Very Long Load Time v4.5

Featured Replies

OK Lockheed Martin - you promised a quicker load time for v4.5

My default scenery used to take 2 minutes to load in v4.4
After installing v4.5 that same scenery now takes 4 minutes 30 seconds. In fact it stalls at the 6% load for 2 minutes 15 seconds (the time it used to take to fully load under v4.4)

Why?
Can someone please help?

What did you install? Client only.. did you delete the Shaders folder?

Do you have Autogen density set above "Normal"?

Give us some details..

Sorry Bert - I know better, I should have included more data - I guess I was frustrated.

First let me say once the saved scenario loads, P3Dv4.5 runs very well, smooth, a wee better FPS, and much nicer looking graphics - all over v4.4.

Second to answer your questions:

1. I did a complete uninstall of v4.4 and downloaded and installed the complete v4.5 and that went very well.

2. I deleted the Shader folder and the Prepar3d.cfg file.

3. As far as the Autogen setting goes I rebuilt the settings to exactly what I had v4.4 set to. - please see my links below for some screenshots of my settings.

I have discovered one significant thing and that is - my home base is the Pacific Northwest, my base airport is CZBB (Boundary Bay Airport by Don Grovestine) located just south east of Vancouver, BC.

I have tried several airports, default as well as third party, in my area and they all take between 4 and 5 minutes to load when in v4.4 it used to be 2 minutes.

When I load other airports anywhere outside of the Pacific Northwest area like California, Nevada, Florida, St. Maarten the load is very quick 1.5 to 2 minutes.

So I am thinking because I have so many ORBX FTX files loaded this must be the problem - but I do not know just what to do about it - again see my several links of screenshots below.

If you have missed it : LM is working on a hotfix...

So do not use AG any higher than Normal and accept the long loading time.

Otherwise you can go back to V4.4 till the hotfix is released.

Thank you so much, I was not aware that LM was working on a fix.

Thanks Gerard, the LM post seems to be referring to a frame rate issue which I do not have. However I will await the hotfix and hope there might be a fix for what I think is an issue with all the FTX products loaded - I will be patient.

Hi Dane, I live on Vancouver Island and have my default flight set to KTPA, Tampa, Florida.

For that exact reason..

The Grovestine airports are particularly taxing on my system and there is a spot between CYCD and KORS where my CPU throws a hissy fit.. too many (non P3D) airports in close proximity, I believe.

I have reduced my Autogen setting from Dense to Normal for now, until the hotfix comes out..

Also try (as a test):

World
LOD radius:  high
Tesselation factor: high
mesh resolution:  5m
texture resolution:  1m
high resolution terrain: on

Also turn off Dynamic 3d vegetation..

Thanks Bert, I did try your suggestions and I got a 30 second improvement, so I guess I will just wait for the hotfix and hope that the hotfix also looks at loading times in certain areas/circumstances even though I read that the hotfix seems to be to improve FPS which is not a problem for me as since v4.5 my FPS did improve a wee bit (about 3 or 4 FPS).

Yeah Grovestine's airports are really nice but they sure cause loading issues. My CZBB was acceptable at 2 minutes with v4.4 but Grovestine's CYYJ (Victoria) was always a killer. If you have his CYYJ maybe that is causing your CYCD to KORS flight to be a problem??

Anyway - thanks again... Happy flights....
