Have you completed and passed all the free flying lessons? I agree. Many flight simulator aircraft including default, payware and freeware aircraft offer the opportunity to learn something and, as such, many could be considered ‘study-level’ to some degree. However, rightly or wrongly, the term ‘study-level’ has now been appropriated by developers/marketers to define only those aircraft addons which are considered to be in the top echelon in terms of accurate systems replication. As such many airliners from developers such as PMDG, Majestic, FSL, Quality Wings, iFly, Leonardo etc etc fall into this category with their well replicated complex systems but smaller general aviation types can also have their systems replicated to ‘study-level’. Even the A2A J3 Cub and 172 Trainer could be considered ‘study-level’ although clearly the number of systems that can be accurately replicated in these aircraft is limited, particularly in the case of the J3! If the OP wants a ‘study-level’ aircraft, I think he needs to first decide what category or aircraft he wants - classic or modern jetliner, turboprop airliner, classic piston airliner, biz jet, single or twin GA, etc - and then make a decision on that basis. However, bear in mind that there are many very good aircraft addons out there, which, although they may not quite reach the lofty pinnacle of being described as ‘study-level’, still offer considerable learning opportunities for the simmer.
