June 21, 20196 yr I'm planning to purchase the QW 787. Wanted to check how the jump to feature works with radar contact? Can one continue a flight with RC after using this function by just using the direct to request? Thanks! June 21, 20196 yr Moderator I don’t have the QW787 but if you want to make a particular waypoint in your plan the active one you have to request it in RC4. If granted then make that waypoint the active one in the QW787. That’s assuming I’ve understood your question. Ray (Cheshire, England). June 21, 20196 yr What I do when planning a long flight with a jump is to remove the intermediate waypoints from the flight plan route until around 200nm remaining to destination. I fly the departure and out to the jump point, then in RC4 the next waypoint will be the jump-to point without all the intervening waypoints. That way I don't have to mess with RC4 telling me I can't go direct when I need to. I mean RC gives you the option to fly directly to any waypoint in your flight plan so why would you have to omit some of them? June 21, 20196 yr First, RC4 sometimes will deny a direct-to request. It's not a given that the request will be approved (usually it is, but not always). Second, the direct-to menus only give you options to go direct to a limited number of waypoints up ahead...so if your FP route on a 15-hour leg has 20 waypoints between you and the jump-to point, you may not be able to choose a waypoint that far ahead in the direct-to request menu. I think it'll only give you options for something like 10 waypoints (2 pages of 5 waypoints per page) up ahead.
