March 1, 200620 yr Just wondered if a scenery designer will come with FSX in the box? Or will it be necessary to rely on 3rd party addons? Thanx.

March 1, 200620 yr Assuming that the XML scenery language from FS2004 is still used (a good assumption IMO), you will be able to make scenery for FSX using SceneGenX and GMAX from day one. Hopefully with the SDK's coming out as the program is released, Tom Hiscox will be able to add any new features almost immediately.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
March 1, 200620 yr In fact, lots of scenery designers will come with FSX, right here or at any website supporting FS. Your own personal scenery designer, I dunno about that.:)Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com/FC_StartJava.html] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-) Tom Perry
March 2, 200620 yr More importantly, how soon will we get the scenery SDKs. There were a few small, but significant changes from FS2002 to FS2004 that weren't documented until the SDKs were released. For example, we had no way of creating airports until Lee Swordy created Afcad2, and it wasn't until quite some time after that when we finally got the BGLComp SDK which told us how to do all the things that Lee already let us do. There are a few examples like this. So, yeah, I think MS has indicated that the MDL/XML format is the way ahead, so we should be able to create compatible 3D objects, but it's the terrain and AFD features that I wonder about.- Martin My site: www.martinstrong.com/FS_Project.htm
March 2, 200620 yr Author Moderator >More importantly, how soon will we get the scenery SDKs.It has been stated several time in other threads and/or websites that their plans are to release the SDKs prior to the actual release of FSX, so that will give interested parties a chance to study up on the changes.
