I am wondering how many people use ChasePlane gimbal view. I recently turned it on and was kinda surprised.

On the one hand it reminded me of riding my motorcycle - head is always level with the road and it leaves the instruments in view. On the other hand it really does rotate the scenery around and can be a bit disconcerting.

Feels completely natural in the A2A Mustang. Not so much in a Baron. Maybe I can dial back "Anticipation"?

Anyone else using it? Recommendations for fine-tuning?

Just recently tried it out myself with a chopper on external view but hadn’t thought to try it inside. I’d be interested to see how others set it up.

I've just give it a try.

I somewhat like it but wonder if it is realistic.

It can be also inconvenient for reading instruments during turns, climbs,...

Heya Johnny and Tony,

I re-read (RTFM) the ChasePlane manual and gimbal view is intended for EXTERNAL views.

Follow the Horizon is intended for internal views, and a quick check indicates that yes, if works much better with Anticipation and other internal camera views than just blasting gimbal view.

Check it out!

Hi John, do you mean that the manual says that Gimbal view is not intended or recommended for internal view? I did not quite understand your second sentence 'Follow... view."

Heya Tony,

Yes, the "Follow Horizon"  (F.Horizon on Camera Motion Effects) setting is intended for internal views, while Gimbal is intended for external views. The FH value is set as a percentage between 0 and 100, with 100 keeping the horizon completely level (ala Gimbal mode) and zero ignoring it. Last night I futzed around a bit and 50 seemed to be a good setting. Will explore the combinations of Anticipation (i.e., turn head/view into the turn) and F.Horizon a bit more tonight.

I love ChasePlane, especially with an Xbox controller. So easy to look around, and more importantly, PLAY!

Thanks for the clarification John and have a nice week end.
