My views on FSX

First of all let me say that I'll be first in line when FSX goes on sale, but I believe I've got a great sim in FS9. with addon liks ASV, Flight Environmet, Ulitmate Terrain Radar Contact, FS Genisis mesh, Bev textures, Ulimate Traffic, etc. Not to mention tons of addon scenery (payware and freeware.)To date my addon scenery folder hold 4.5 Gigs of scenery. Then we come to all the great Payware aircraft I couldn't live without. I'm sure it will take the developers time to patch thier products to be compatable to FSX.I guess what I'm try to say that even when FSX is released,I think I'll still be using FS9 for quite some time to come.Dave FisherCYYZP4 Prescott 3.2e 478p 800mhz 1mg CPUP4P800SE Asus Motherboard1.5 gig PC3200 DDR RAM 400MHZGeforce Ti 4200/128Maxtor 80 Gig ATA 133 HD x2WDC WD800 80 Gig HDhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/ng_driver.jpghttp://fs2crew.com/linepilot.jpg

I remember the same comments when FS2004 was going to be released after FS2002 but it didn't take long for people to change their minds and work with FS2004. There is no question, regardless of whatever addons I have bought, I will be changing to FSX and do not agree that new versions should be backwards compatible, basically because this I believe only stops forwards progress. There is nothing wrong with only supporting a new format and forcing developers to simply recompile their models into the new format, which can easily be done with a new compiler (plugin) within gMax.I say, bring on the future and forget about the past!

I remember people saying the the same with FS2000! In most cases, bleeding edge technology = gooood. :DPyjamas

I seem to remember one of the leading FS websites at the time (can't recall which) tried to lead a boycott of FS98 because the site's owner decided it was merely an upgrade to FS95. Boy, was he wrong! FS98 was the biggest rewrite of FS until FS2004 hit us.I see a few posts in this forum have declared a personal boycott of FSX for essentially the same reasons because what they *think* they see (or don't see) in the screenies.I find this whole FSX forum quite enteraining. A whole range of human emotions have been expressed - humor, paranoia, anxiety, anticipation, impatience, patience, satisfaction, relief, and a couple of others I can't recall. About the only thing I haven't seen yet are the conspiracy theorists -- but I'm sure they're lurking around here somwhere, just waiting for the right thread. What's an add on? Never tried one. Don't intend to.Cal (CYXX)
