September 5, 20196 yr Has anyone had any experience with ELITE XTS Simulator? Does it offer anything realism wise that is missing from X-plane and P3D? What I do like about it though is the crisp 2d cockpit graphic. Do you think this sim is worth checking out?
September 5, 20196 yr I'm sure @jcomm has a some good things to tell you about Elite... ! Let's summon him 😉 Enrique Vaamonde
September 5, 20196 yr Hi, I have had all versions of ELITE since v7, and v9 XTS brings you additional features, like 4k instrument panels, multiple monitor setup, and the GNS ( default ) and GTN Garmin series ( GTN is a separate license purchase ). There's an ELITE v8 review by me, and a later v9 review by the owner of that site at: simreviewshouse.com v8.6 by jcomm v9.0 by Tércio ELITE is aimed at IFR traning. You do not have the fancy graphics sugar offered by XP or FSX / P3D, and default Genview and even Swiss Realview scenery is very basic ( although slopped runways are reperesented when the resolution allows for it ... ). The aircraft fleet is limited ( check at the above reviews ) but each aircraft is accurately modeled in as far as systems and performance go, within the normal "IFR envelope". Ground physics are poor compared to other sims - once landed, forget about the physics, and during takeoff and taxi, be prepared to only counter prop effects - all of the rest is out... Weather modelling is good in terms of details for IFR operations, and one can use real world METAR data, the above levels being interpolated based on ELITE's own atmosphere algorithm. There is no winds / temps aloft injection. In order to use the twins in the ELITE fleet, and unless you use an undocumented keyboard-based shortcut to control ( symmetrically ) throttle, prop and mixture / condition, you will have o buy one of ELITE's Throttle Quadrant solutions. Well, there's a way around if you know how to build a joystick with more axis that you can then assign to the 2nd throttle / prop / mixture channels... It's a training tool - not meant as a leisure sim. For that purpose I find it superior to either XP or FSX / P3D even with their best add-ons. There's an expensive solution to allow for coupling of ELITE with ESP/P3D visuals. You can even run the ELITE and P3D on separate PCs, or in single PC with at least two monitors. I believe ELITE is working on a wider / home user alternative solution. Maybe one of these days owners of ELITE and P3D can have at home something like what we see in the following videos: Another detail - our default hardware controllers aren't at the same level of ELITE's own line of HW controllers, and using those makes a whole lot of a difference but is expensive. September 5, 20196 yr Author Thanks. The system fidelity has my interest but it seems too much compromise to be made, such as limited flying area. The solution for global scenery at 3,000 USD is simply out of the question for me.
