"Set the lights" - Landing lights for T.O.

Featured Replies

Hi Bryan,

I noticed that when I call "set the lights" (I'm on button control) for takeoff upon entering the runway, the PM will set the strobes to on and the taxi light to t/o. He doesn't touch the landing lights.

It would be nice though, if he could also set the landing lights from the "retracted" to the "off" position (already extending them), because right now when I then call for takeoff, he will set the landing lights from "retracted" to "on" position.

This means, that the landing lights will only then really illuminate the runway once they are fully extended, which takes quite some time (I've had some takeoffs where I was rolling quite a bit until they finally came on).
By having the lights extended already during the "set the lights"-flow, they could be useful right away when I want to take off.

(I could be wrong, but I have the feeling this was already the way it worked before 1.2... can't remember)

Thanks,
Stu

Cheers,

It's getting dark outside pretty early these days 🙂 ... has the consideration come to a conclusion in the above matter?
