Go around procedure?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I was wondering, is there a go around or missed approach procedure? Can't find any in the manual...

Thanks

It's there, page 32 in the PF tutorial.

As PF, set the levers to TOGA and speak "GO AROUND FLAPS".

Oh I see. Forgot to mention though, l‘m on button control.....is there a trigger for that too?

Going into TOGA on approach did not change the FS2C mode for me yesterday.

In Button Control, you'd hit the "Secondary Button" assignment.

You'll see when the Missed Approach command is available as a command on the Main Panel.  I think I programmed it to appear after the Flaps 1 or gear down call.

Sorry for responding so late. I tried the above yesterday, but the secondary button command during the whole approach was „set qnh“. If I hit that, it doesn‘t show anything after that anymore.
I didn‘t manage to call for a G/A procedure with button control when I had to yesterday.... Did I do something wrong?

Yes. ... and Flaps 2, Gear Down, Flaps 3 etc etc

Not quite sure what you mean by that. I usually just trigger the checklists/flows according to my flight phase by button. And I skip the cockpit prep flows and start with the before start checklist. Do I also have to activate certain modes?

Looking at the code, the trigger to see "G/A Flaps" to display in the Secondary window is:

  • Descent Mode is True (DM Flashing on Main Panel.)
  • User is the Pilot Flying
  • Radio Altimeter < 1000 feet.

Thanks for the clarification, it actually worked. Although I find 1000ft can be a little late at times, especially if you're messing up the approach for some reason (e.g. weather, speed etc.) and have to call it off quite early.

Two questions though (remember, button control):

- The PM set the flaps from full to 3 after I called "GA flaps". Is that correct? Because the next available step after that is "Flaps 1". So he's skipping flaps 2?

- After "Flaps 1", the system returns to the state where I can call "After start climb checklist". Is it really necessary to read this checklist plus another approach checklist after a go around?

Thanks and Cheers,
Stu

It's all modeled correctly.  Yes, flaps 2 is skipped.  Yes, you have to run the "After Takeoff Climb Checklist" again.

That's why it's actually called "climb" in the checklist and not just "After Takeoff".

It's all straight from the Airbus manuals.

Cheers,
