New FS9 planes.....what about FSX compatibility?

Featured Replies

At this point in the game, I will buy FS9 planes ONLY if they will also be "guaranteed upgradable" to FSX, which will be here in a month or so. I see that FSD has just introduced another version of their Piper Navajo and simply states that it will be FSX compatible. I would like to buy the Flight Factory Simulations Saab 340 today, if I knew that it will migrate to FSX as well. I think that ANY new product introduced at this time must let the potential buyer know if there are plans to make it work with the new product.

It would be smart on their part to do that. Manny

How about making this an organized forum where everyone can say what they've heard, regarding FSX compatibility, for various add-ons.I for one would be very interested to learn if there will be an FSX patch for Flight1 ATR-72.

I brought over the F1 ATR into the FSX Demo and it seems to be good go right off the bat I think. I didn't do an exhaustive test. But it looks ok.Manny

OK, here's three. The Flight1 Cessna 172 works fine in FSX. The RAS Spitfire also works in FSX, although I'm not sure about the VC lighting. The Wings of Power P41 Mustang throws up error messages regarding gauges that are based on FS98 and does not appear to be fully functional (although flyable). Cheers,Noel.

Thanks for the info Manny.I thought about trying it myself, but I figured that I didn't know the plane well enough to be sure I hadn't missed anything.

Keep in kind there is a difference between "compatible" in FSX and designed with the new features in it. I wonder how many payware companies have and are using the new SDK features in their FSX "compatible" designs. I am assuming, like with FS9 specific aircraft that won't work correctly in FS2002, that we have the same deal with FSX specific aircraft.Personally I have enough aircraft to keep me happy for awhile and plan to try out the new defaults for awhile before worrying about new ones.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/ambanner.jpg

Hi Manny, Yep, you're right. The attitude indicator on the RAS Spitfire hasn't got a horizontal bar. The lights don't work either, using either the VC switches or the keyboard.Cheers,Noel.
