September 4, 200619 yr I want to get some flight plan software for use with FS9. My needs are pretty basic - Departure, Dest. SIDS, STARS and export to FS9 so that the GPS (and Active Sky) can read them.I found a web site that will do this, but has no export function that I could see - so it is useless.FSnavigator appears to do this.FSbuild also does - but it has an 'export to FSnavigator' function that confuses the 'H' out of me - if one had FSnavigator, WHY would you have to also have another program that would output flight plans for it? FSpilot states that it has a flight planner, but it appears to be only for running the autopilot. I want something I can use independently of the sim - ie BEFORE launching FS9.Suggestions??
September 4, 200619 yr I used FSBuild 2 and found it the quickest and easiest to use.FSNavigator is a GPS / navigation type program, which will show a map right in the FS9 screen, in addition to doing flightplanning including SID's and STARs. It also exports to the default GPS and flightplanner.FSBuild works without Flightsim running, so if all you want is to make a flightplan, export it into the simulator and fly it is probably the better one to go with. It only lets you create a flightplan with text though.FSNavigator runs within flightsim itself, but has a map element, and lets you either type in the flightplan, or create it on the map with the mouse. Both programs will do what you want, it comes down to if you want an external or internal program, and whether or not you want the in flight map.
September 4, 200619 yr FSnavigator allows you to install in trial mode so you can test it out to see if it suits your needs. I've also heard that Helge is working on an update for FSX.Phil.
September 4, 200619 yr FS Build 2 interfaces to loaded weather files in Active Sky 6. FS9 does not have to be running. This includes weather effects (winds aloft) in its fuel planning and estimated leg times, a very nice feature, when printing out the FSB navlog.

September 4, 200619 yr Adopted FS Navigator a long time ago and never looked back. Just fabulous. The only thing that could get me to change now is something that depicts terrain and a vertical profile. No such thing at the moment AFAIK. (I use Golden Eagle free software for that).
