September 6, 200619 yr Hi all,Just a quick note to let you know that Mike Stevens and I have created Las Vegas in 1959 and also in 1963 (user selectable). And we have not just done the airport, but have also created the famous Strip and the equally famous Fremont St. downtown as well. Many of the objects are animated in a way we've never seen in any other scenery for FS. The neon lights swoop and move, chase lights march around the signs, and glitter lights fill the letters! The 1959 terminal on the west side of the airport: http://www.calclassic.com/Temp/KLAS_59_terminal.jpg The 1963 terminal on the east side (where the current terminal is located): http://www.calclassic.com/Temp/klas_63.jpg Away from the airport, here is one of the most famous hotels, the elegant Sands. You can see the tall Landmark hotel and beetle-shaped old Convention Center in the background. Look at the Sands sign at night - it does something special!: http://www.calclassic.com/Temp/vegas_sands.jpg Second is the Fabulous Strip at night. You can see the signs from the Desert Inn in the foreground - keep an eye on that cactus... Then there is the revolving slipper across the street, along with the exotic and multicolored Aku Aku restaurant, part of the Stardust complex in the background. Their sign has a space age secret...http://www.calclassic.com/Temp/vegas_strip.jpgThere are plenty of other animated features - a total of over 30! But we've gone much further than just a flight sim scenery file - we've included other transportation too. Here is the Union Pacific City of Las Vegas. http://www.calclassic.com/Temp/vegas_train.jpg And finally, here is the incredible Fremont Street (downtown) at night - talk about energy use! The classic icon of Las Vegas is "Vegas Vic" , the first animated sign ever in Las Vegas.. He waves you to the Pioneer Club just as he has done since 1949. The readme file contains info on the various hotels, most of which by now have been imploded. Also are authentic flight plans from representative airlines from 1963 to and from KLAS. http://www.calclassic.com/Temp/vegas_fremont.jpg If you want a little fun, try flying the 172 down Fremont Street....yes, it can be done! September 7, 200619 yr This is just so cool. Thanks for sharing this great scenery I am really enjoying it. I love the HJG, and making accurate historical scenery is a wonderful exploit of FS9 capability. Thanks again for the beautifully done work, great job.
September 7, 200619 yr Author Hi all,Thanks for all the kind words! Glad you are enjoying it.I hope that the MS folks will download it and let me know if they want the source files to see how we did the neon animations - the default Vegas Strip seems so boring now that I'm used to this one... :)Take care,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
