Problem with Scenery config

Featured Replies

When I boot up my game.My scenery config file recognizes my ad on scenery and nothing else.
Please help!

Go to the FSX setup page.  Click on Customize.  Click on Scenery Library.  Make sure all scenery you want enabled is enabled.  If the default is not there, then you need to go to the scenery.cfg folder (C:\Program Data\Microsoft\FSX)(folder is hidden) and change scenery.txt to scenery.cfg.

Much more likely that the scenery.cfg file is corrupt.

I have not and never have had a scenery.txt file at that location.

You could try renaming the file to scenery.cfg.old and then when you start FSX,

it will create a new one, containing all the default scenery.

A .txt file is created if there is a CTD or FSX did not load properly.  Same with FSX.cfg.  Microsoft wanted the files to diagnose crashes or freezes back when they were still providing support for their product.

You will have to go into your Control Panel/Folder options and check mark "show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide extensions of known file types."

OK this is what I’ve done.

I verified files for integrity. that didn’t work.

I uninstalled and reinstalled.that didn’t work.

I’ve tried to create a new scenery.cfg File.

fsx didn’t create one. I used scenery.cfg.old

when I rebooted fsx it said Invalid SCENERY.CFG file and abort.

A corrupted scenery.cfg happens often.  For FSX, I use the Scenery Config Editor as it fixes things like this - https://sourceforge.net/projects/fs-sceditor/
