GTN's not always starting up in JRollon SF260

Featured Replies

Anyone have the jrollon SF260?  It seems I can only start their aircraft with a GTN 750 or 650 after a PC reboot.  Everytime I quit out of XP11 when using that addon XP11 freezes and I have to force shut it down.

Then if I load XP11 again (without a system reboot) the GTN's will not turn on.  I don't even see the trainer exe running in the background (which is the issue).

Has anyone had issues with RXP and this SF260 addon?

edit for GTN.ini file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5ro0bscvwuvzi0d/RealityXP.GTN.ini?dl=0

edit again:  The gtn ini file for this plane is all screwed up....they got the GTN650 set as master when its not even in the panel GRRRR!!!!  Also I was able to adjust some options so at least the autopilot will follow the GTN750's track guidance but the HSI cdi needle does not react.  I can't find a way to do it.  Maybe has to do with GTN_750_2 - I think it should be _1

Hi Ryan,

what can I say:

Without changing the master device selection in the menu, and don't modifying the INI files, people shouldn't have any problem. That is the reason I put "read only" the INI files. To not be modified.

My answer following:

So the developer made the ini file read only?

So in this case I am using the left side of cockpit for navigation. (HSI on left side).  Is the HSI not working because GTN_750_2 is selected?  Or because the ini file is locked and I cannot set master device?  I don't really understand.

If it is read only is it possible to just create a new INI file with proper data?

All of this.

As soon as the ini file is read only you must assume there is a giant "don't touch" post sign over the GTN, over the GTN menu, over the GTN ini file:

  • Just use the aircraft exactly as pre-configured and don't even change your database settings....
  • Or just "untick" the read-only setting (or add full access rights for your user account) to the ini file and take the chance to break the integration whenever you change a setting...
  • Or, just lobby the developper to change this....
  • Or just fly another aircraft...

The aircraft vendor in locking the ini file as read-only doesn't really give you the choice to fly his aircraft.

Lovely.  I think one of the issues is they have the 750 and 650 as an option per  paint livery.  So the 650 is GTN #1 and 750 2.  I'm not sure how that should be arranged.

Will I then have the same issue if I chose the GNS?  I believe this developer allows using the GNS430W in place of Laminar's.

When you suggest unticking Read Only....do you mean in the properties of the file (IE right click file ->General ->Properties: Attributes?  Because those are already unticked in my install.

I may just try an entirely new install of the SF260.  Someone at the developer forums said they now have the HSI working with GTN 750.  But mine isn't for now.

EDIT: Reinstall did not fix issue.... I made a post with images over at the org...hopefully that details the issue.  the 650 is working correctly

Thank you for the added screenshots, this helps!

I've answered over there and I believe it would be better the discussion continues there too.

Hello, I have now also bought the JRollon SF-250 and have the same problems with the GTN750, it doesn't work, the screen remains dark. Is there a solution to the problem in the meantime?

And if not, does the GTN650 work in all areas in this airplane?

Michael

@MikeFlight Hi, what can I say?

Javier is bringing to market fantastic aircraft but in this case, it is just a matter of following integration guidelines like I've explained in the x-plane.org forum, and documented in the RXP User's Manuals.

Nonetheless what I've written over there still apply:

https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/195184-solved-gtn750-wont-drive-hsi/&page=2&tab=comments#comment-1789980

Let me rephrase in simpler terms:

  • The GTN (and the GNS V2) are not designed to work with read-only ini files

  • In order to protect the ini file from user changes there is a mechanism already implemented which locks out the user from changing the settings in the GUI (the Settings Panel) if you mark them as such. Hint: locked=

  • In order to ensure the ini file is configured with mandatory defaults for some 'key' settings, there is also a mechanism already implemented which 'enforces' default values when the GTN (and the GNS V2) starts up. Hint: RealityXP.GTN.defaults.ini

  • In addition, the aforementioned feature also ensures any aircraft update won't erase the user's ini file changes (for example database settings or sound volume).

  • This is all clearly explained in the GTN (and the GNS V2) user's manual in the recently added chapter "Integration Guidelines".

Jean-Luc,

sometime the GTN750 worked after a new installation of the SF-260. Because it looks better in the SF-260 and is more suitable, I also bought the GTN650. This also didn't work at the beginning of course. Javier created a new ini file for the GTN650 and now it works as it should.
Thank you very much and best regards

Michael

Hi,

I have perfect integration in the 3d cockpit for the basic (non-G1000) model Sf 260 - but once I load the G1000 version, I can't even get a window for the gtn 750 - both GTN 1 and GTN 2 are greyed out in the Plugin menu.

I am guessing that might be due to the coding of the G1ooo - but it would be v. nice to have a 750 and a 1000 in the 2 large panels on the  model.  Any ideas about that, at all?

Paul Skol

@Paul_Yorks Hi, the X-Plane G1000 is also a GPS and it is coded inside X-Plane in a way which is preventing any 3rd party GPS to run properly at the same time.

Thanks Jean-Luc, that's a perfectly fair answer!  I will just enjoy my GTN without.  🙂
