Sids, Stars, DFW and ATL

Featured Replies

This is probably a dumb question, but I was planning an fs2004 flight between DFW and ATL. I used the routefinder website (http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/) to generate a flightplan, and it only gave me one point between the airports, even though that is a fairly long distance. I figured out that the SID from DFW and the STAR from ATL meet, so you can fly the full sid and then immediately join the star at atl. The DFW SID:Dallas Eight http://204.108.4.16/d-tpp/0510/06039DALLAS.PDFThe ATL STAR:La Granfe One Arrival http://204.108.4.16/d-tpp/0510/00026LAGRANGE.PDFThey both intersect at the Meridian VOR (MEI). Now my question, would this be a real flightplan followed by airliners? Obviously there are lots of commercial flights between the two airports, so would pilots routinely fly this? It just seemed interesting to me!

Yep it is valid. You would file:KDFW DAL6.MEI.LGC1 KATL

Depends on the weather or other factors, looks like everyone tonight is getting this routing DFW.SOLDO2.MEI.HONIE2.ATLEdit: The aircraft below filed RNAV equipped, you will get DFW.DALL8.MEI.LGC1.ATL if you don't have RNAV.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/130116.gifhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/130117.gifhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/130119.gifhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/130118.gif

Very interesting info! Thanks! I'm off to fly that route now in fs2004. :)
