So in the end, it did turn out to be a plugin......

Can't even remember how many times that turns out to be the case.

Yep, a lesson well learned!

Now, I might need an alternative for BLU_fx. I'll try flying around for a bit and see how things look. Maybe it's not needed anymore as I seem to recall reading somewhere that LR have been tweaking the lighting in response to user feedback. Is this correct?

While searching for updates, or an alternative, I came across this:

https://www.thresholdx.net/article/blufxm

Maybe, after all, it’s time to ditch BluFX.

Any recommendations.... that provide good results ‘out-of-the-box’?

MaxxFX looks like it should deliver the goods. Hmm, just read the details and it doesn’t work in VR headsets. From the limited experience I had with BluFX in VR I think the same was true for that plugin. Still, I think MaxxFX would be worth having if only to enrich the non-VR experience.

Pleased you have it working correctly.

Just a couple of suggestions.

Xvision  (shader tool). with a little patience this will enhance the look of xplane It works with Virtual Reality lots of pre-sets on the net and it is used in a lot of orbx screenshots.

If you don't already have it Fly with Lua is a must have.

I find 3jFPS is essential for vr. depending on the settings you use it can increase frame rate significantly.

Finally OVR. this free lua script can be visible in the vr window  and allows to change frame rate down as low as 30fps without visible stutter, also change super sampling, all on the fly, magic.

Hope this helps.

We had friends in Leven sadly they are no longer with us. We were around the Nook of Fife in July, fantastic scenery and fishing villages, pretty much like Cornwall without the traffic.

Regards Mick
