Autogen Configuration Merger does not work

Featured Replies

Hi

I yesterday late evening realized, that my Autogen Configuratin Manager is not working (maybe since a longer time but I didn't realize it until yesterday). I tried my Justsim sceneries and they have no autogen at all.
Then I remebered that in the past, ACM startet after using ORBX and this it does not anymore. So I deleted the ACM completely even the Registrationkey.
Then I installed the Payware Skiathos Scenery as I know it comes with the ACM. It correctely installed the ACM and it was added to de add-ons but on start up, ACM didn't lunch.
Next step I did, I was not sure if I installed ORBX library in to the root folder or not (and this is essential for Justsim) so I deleted it and installed it new into the root folder. After that, on P3D startup, the ACM Message appeared. I realy was happy because I thought after restart, all will be fine, but unfortunately not. No Autogen around all Juststim Sceneries and also 29palms Skiathos. Other sceneries, using ACM I hadn't time to check.
I believe it has to do something with ORBX Central. I switched from FTX Central to ORBX Central on November 1st and I can imagine, that at this time it stoped working.
Do you have any ideas how I can solve this? Is it safe to delete the default.xml in the autogen folder? Will it create a new one on start up or can I build a new one with Client, Content or Scenery component?

Any help appreciated.
Kind Regards and Thank you

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

I have not yet switched to ORBX Central (I have it installed, but old sceneries are not migrated yet), but from what I gather, they have moved their sceneries out of sim folder and thus should use add-on.xml method to inject scenery, including autogen. If that is the case then default autogen no longer needs to be edited by ORBX. That said, it shouldn't break ACM but anything is possible I guess. I have found that sceneries that rely on ACM or autogen injection via add-on.xml rarely work.

It is not safe to delete default.xml because sim will not rebuild it. FTX Central v3 does, ORBX Central doesn't and I am sure that one of the component installers also must have it included. Probably Scenery or Content.

I use a backed up Autogen folder with all required entries and chose to replace it after ever update of P3D v4.5. Every time I open FTX, I always remember to replace the Autogen folder. Failure to do this will cause a loss of AG at certain sceneries.

With HF2, ACM is no longer needed, but I assume that developers have to update their installers or sceneries to take advantage of the new P3D v4.5 HF2 features. I've deleted any trace of the ACM and so far, I've had no issues.

If you don't have a back up of a fully working Autogen folder with all the entries, then I'd recommend backing up current folder, use FTX back up folder as the main folder, then reinstall your LGSK. Once you have your AG back, I would back it up and keep in a safe place so that you can turn to it when you need it.

Leave the Autogen folders with their addons . Add the addon the xml way ( Lorbi Si’s Addon Organizer ) and also add the Autogen folder path to it

Ready to fly..  No need anymore for ACM from P3Dv4 and upwards..

Hi

Thank you all for your help. It was caused by the AutogenX entry in the VLC Library.xml (used by Godzone Newzealand Sceneries]

As your instructions, I deleted the Autogen entry out of this xml and added the Autogen Folder seperately.

Now all is good with Autogen around Justsim, Skiathos, New Zealand etc.

Kind Regards

Patrick
