December 6, 20196 yr IFR flight from Bowling Green (KBWG). This is a non-towered airport. How do I get my clearance and get started with P2A? Tom
December 6, 20196 yr I did that recently. Works fine. I filed the plan regularly with the departing airport, but no procedure. After I climbed above FL100, I dialed in the freq of the center controller and checked in. Worked like charm, he gave me altitude clearances and so on... Cheers, Michael
December 6, 20196 yr Author Michael, When you contacted center what command did you use to get the clearance? Tom Tom
December 7, 20196 yr Commercial Member You can actually just call Center from the Ground to get clearance, using the standard "Ready to copy IFR Clearance" call. This is not how it might be done in the real world, but it does get you started. Then, when ready for departure, call Center back with the "IFR Release" request. You then takeoff on your own and after airborne, call Center with "...climbing to xxxx" and you're on the way. Dave
