December 9, 20196 yr I am giving some thought to going from my current 3 monitor set up to a single 4K TV as a monitor. I see 43" 4K TVs on sale for under $300. My graphics card is a GTX-790. Any help or advice will be appreciated. I should add that I have an older system I7-4790 , which runs FSX-SE quite well with TripleHead2Go & 3 monitors. My graphics card is a GTX-790. Any help or advice will be appreciated. The GTX-7900 is years old and nowhere near powerful enough to run any sim at 4K/UHD. I couldn't find anything on a GTX 790. The minimum is a GTX 1080Ti which are only available second-hand. The only alternative is the 2080Ti which is extremely expensive. Stick with what you have until you can go for a more powerful card. December 9, 20196 yr You will need 8 Gig V-ram minimum to run a single 4k monitor. December 9, 20196 yr Not familiar with a GTX-790, but I had decent performance with a GTX-980 running FSX into a 4K monitor. Assuming the 790 is more powerful, then you should have good results. P3Dv4 is a different issue. I think with PvD v4 it would probably struggle with all the eye candy turned on. I upgraded to updated 1080ti when moved over to P3D. December 10, 20196 yr Author That was a typo. I have the GTX-760. No matter, since it is probably under powered for a 4K TV as a monitor. I will just wait until I buy a new rig when he new MFS is released. Thanks everyone. December 10, 20196 yr Moderator Steve, wise decision. 4K is 8 million pixels and refreshing them at 30 times a second requires muscle. Mind boggling numbers really. Ray (Cheshire, England).
