GTN 750 and Autopilot NAV Mode (resolved)

Featured Replies

Hi

My system is P3DV4.5 HF2.  Windows 10 64 bit.

I have just purchased and installed the latest GTN 750/650 combo.  Unfortunately I have an issue in that selecting autopilot Nav mode with an Active Flight Plan results in the aircraft not following the flight plan.

Not sure why.  I tried just using the default Mooney but no joy.

Included log files hopefully will provide some idea of what has gone wrong.

Hi, these are the GNS V2 log files. What about the GTN log files though?

Just realised I had only included the GTN Menu one.

The other two are:

Also I had set the GTN as Master using the Shift Right Click config Menu.

Hope this helps point the issue.

I didn't realize first, but you're trying with an aircraft which already has a G1000 system (albeit the stock one) and this is not only an EFIS but a GPS too. Is this working fine with the non-G1000 Mooney for example?

Hi

Thanks.

Just did a flight using the A2A C182 with same results.  It just does not want to track the Active Flight plan course. I will redo this flight using just the GNS530 to eliminate anything else.

You might want to also share the content of the RealityXP.GTN.ini file if you're flying with the GTN, or the RelaityXP.GNS.ini file (if you're flying with the GNS V2 - I'm getting confused about what you are actually flying with!)

OK. Flew the Alabeo Saratoga with the 530 only installed and it tracked the flt pln track perfectly.

Uninstalled via Add On manager and reinstalled just GTN 750. Flew same flight but no joy with tracking the GPS flight plan. I selected the local VOR it tracked the selected OBS OK.

I am another user, like you.  I will point out something to you, but I advise you to wait for RXP as well.  It appears you have not effectively installed the GTN gauges into the aircraft of which the above file is from.  First, you install the RXP gauges and and the Garmin Trainer onto your system.  Next you must use the Configurator to add the gauge(s) into the aircraft.  See Page 4 of the GTN User Manual.  You can find the manual under Reality XP in your Windows Start menu.  As the manual indicates, the Configurator can be found in the simulator's Add-On's menu.

Once you have the gauge(s) added to the aircraft per above, you will likely need to set some parameters in the gauge's Settings menu.  You find the Settings menu by using "shift + right-click" on the top edge of the gauge.  If that click does not work in the virtual cockpit then perform the click on the top edge of the pop-up gauge.

A GTN in real life must be wired to multiple points in the aircraft wiring harness.  Likewise, since developers of the 3rd party aircraft we love to use in these simulators each seem to use different ways to implement their own gauges, the RXP Settings menu is where you may need to make some selections.  Each aircraft may be different.  Understand that in each case you are connecting the RXP to the aircraft developer's method.

When you purchase and install the RXP 650 your have then (2) available GTN 650 gauges. 650_1 and 650_2.  Same is true for the 750.

You should see sections for GTN_750_1 and GTN_750_2.  If you have both 650 and 750 you should also have sections for GTN_650_1 and GTN_650_2

Now. Your .ini file above in this discussion has only one 750 section.  It also has two 650 sections.  It is missing GTN_750_2.

All three of your GTN sections have this common entry:

-----------------------------
is the master device if true.

MasterDevice = false
-----------------------------

So you should have sections for four gauges, and I believe the gauge you are using should show MasterDevice = True.

I am posting only a portion of my .ini file below to save space, but you should see what I mean by the MasterDevice setting, as well as some other settings that I needed in the Real Air Turbine Duke v2.

Hi Frank,

Your advice was very helpful. I can now confirm the GTN750 behaves as it should in the Saratoga. I will follow your advice for the other aircraft. I had thought I had carried out this process using the configuration menu but must have missed something.

Many thanks for jumping in and helping.

Cheers
