January 5, 20206 yr Hi there, Have been trying to get larger waves because my xplane 11 water is flat and lifeless. I replaced the "any" water tile in bitmaps/world/water and that looks a bit better. However I love the look of 20 ft high waves and there is a Lua script for that. No matter what I try, the water remains flat as a pancake. I removed all scripts but the wave-script for waves but no luck so far. I tried 2 or 3 different scripts but they just don't work. I have the most recent flywithlua. I use asxp for weather so I cannot change wave heights myself. Any thoughts would be great! Jozeff
January 6, 20206 yr If ASXP controls the dataref that drives wave height, a LUA script will not be able to control it. 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days
January 6, 20206 yr I am not sure if you are expecting too much. To my knowledge, there is no "3D" wave-height possible in X-Plane. All you will get is different looking textures. The actual surface will stay flat. The wave height, speed and direction influences the way the texture looks and also the movement of water-borne aircraft and the ships. Cheers, Jan

X-Plane's water rendering leaves a lot to be desired, but with a bit of Lua magic, you can at least vary the look of the surface according to wave height. https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/49383-dynamic-water-ffts/ 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days
