scenery update for kmsp area

Featured Replies

I have been searching for scenery updates to the downtown Minneapolis area and have not been successful in finding any.  I have found updates to the kmsp airport itself but no nearby scenery of the downtown area.  Do people even develop add-on scenery for non airport areas?  Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Aerosoft and Dryzewiecki Design have developed detailed 3D city sceneries for a number of US cities and Orbx have a handful of detailed cities in various part of the world. The problem with these very detailed large cities with lots of unique autogen buildings included is that they are be very resource intensive which can lead to problems in FSX because of its 4GB VAS limit. They are however quite useable with care and can look very good.
As far as I know however, no one has developed detailed 3D city scenery for Minneapolis but there is some photoreal scenery available for Minneapolis (Newport Scenery) and the whole state of Minnesota (Megascenery). I personally have no experience of either of these but photoreal scenery, although providing an accurate geographical image, can look flat and featureless at altitudes below about 2000ft which can be a drawback in my opinion.

Bill.
