January 28, 20206 yr Hi, my voice does not get recognized (no reaction from Copilot, no red "voice bar" on top of the screen". I am on German Win10 pro, installed English US, installed MCE (the SAPI thing happened automatically), ran through voice training twice successfully. I am new to Win10, so probably I did something wrong. Thanks for the help. Peter I recognized, that it takes a long time to open the Run App Wizard Edited January 28, 20206 yr by Petermuc3 Peter Win10/64/32,0GB, [email protected], Gigabyte 1080ti, P3Dv5.1

Peter I recognized, that it takes a long time to open the Run App Wizard Go to MCE user interface, About tab and check which devices are listed under "Sound In" and "Sound Out". You may have multiple audio devices and MCE isn't hooked to the correct ones. Run our "assign sound device" tool. Windows 10 Start->All Apps->Multi Crew Experience->Assign sound device. Carefully select correct input (where your mike is connected) and "Output" (where you'd like to hear various crew members and click OK. The toll will automatically make adjustments if necessary. January 29, 20206 yr Author Thanks Gerald, everything is set correct, mic is recognized withhin P3D. There were no problems running the voice training, but is still not working. Peter Never heard of such thing. To run voice training for English US speech engine, you will need to temporarily set your regional settings to English US. Only need that for training. January 30, 20206 yr Author Unfortunately still not working. What I did. Set region to English US Reinstalled MCE (the interface comes in German, on my old PC it was in English) Setting up speakers and mic again started voice training (when asked for my name, Peter was recognized but with a mix of English/German language) ran through the training until I reached, say "select heading one four seven", tried severeal times, not recognized! Whatelse can I do? I am a bit deparate, MCE was running perfectly on my old PC. Peter Peter Win10/64/32,0GB, [email protected], Gigabyte 1080ti, P3Dv5.1

Peter Re-run the wizard and when you get to the screen where audio device is listed, click <Change> device and select correct input Then continue to step 9 and check speech is getting through. The purpose of the wizard is just to automate a few tasks, instead of telling you to read a to of instructions such as Go to Windows Control Panel; Start Speech recognition" On the left pane,. click "Advanced speech settings". Select "English US Speech Recognizer". Or if missing, download and install it, etc.. Ultimately, could just ignore the wizard (it's not the main MCE app). Run MCE and make sure "Sound In" and "Sound Out" are correctly listed under "About" tab. Speech reco under Windows 10 is so good that little speech training is required. January 30, 20206 yr Author Thanks Gerald, did all that but is not working. Strange thing, when I open Voice Recorder it says "need to set up microphone". But when I go into settings/sound/input my mic is there and working. As said above when I am asked for my name during the MCE app the answer is very much German/English "do I spell your name(=pronounced in German) Peter correctly?" SAPi popup looks correct like in the installation guide. Peter Peter Win10/64/32,0GB, [email protected], Gigabyte 1080ti, P3Dv5.1

They let you decide whether the microphone is enabled with all or just a select applications. You may have disabled that by accident. Gerald R https://www.multicrewxp.com
January 30, 20206 yr Author Microphone "Allow desktop apps..." is on. MCE is not listed, Prepar3D.exe is listed, probably from my last trial. Peter Win10/64/32,0GB, [email protected], Gigabyte 1080ti, P3Dv5.1
January 30, 20206 yr Author For what is worth. It's normal, as the wizard starts speech engine in "Exclusive mode" just like MCE. When running the wizard, do you see a "microphone" icon in the system tray? (right-bottom of the screen) Windows has introduced a new feature in Windows 10 very recently (within the last 2 months). In Windows search box, type privacy settings and select it. You'll find all settings there Run through the settings, particularly "speech recognition" (which now can be completely disabled) as well as Microphone per application access. This is the main difference with Windows 7. Gerald R https://www.multicrewxp.com
January 30, 20206 yr Author Yes, the microphone icon is there. Windows speech training goes well. As soon as I continue with the wizard "select speed two four zero" I am not recognized anymore. Mic icon is still there, in Microphone settings I can see under "Allow desktop apps to access mic" Speech Recognition currently in use. Don't you think that the semi English/German response to my name challenge after SAPI setting to English US is strange? How can I install MCE on my PC with an English interface? Thanks Peter Peter Win10/64/32,0GB, [email protected], Gigabyte 1080ti, P3Dv5.1

Thanks Peter I wouldn't worry about how your name is pronounced. That is using whatever TTS voice MCE picks up. In your case, could be some German TTS voice, which isn't what MCE is using anyway. In Windows TTS voice, try using an English voice as default instead. As I said, don't fixate on the wizard. It's only meant to be run once and there could be unexpected things happening. Move on to using MCE with Prepar3D/FSX and see how it goes. Try it out using human recorded voices, as well as your favorite TTS voice if you have any. Gerald R https://www.multicrewxp.com
January 30, 20206 yr Author Gerald, I cannot use MCE as my voice is not recognized withhin MCE. I thought I made that clear already in my first post. I started MCE withhin the sim, no recognition of my voice. For a test I clicked on the mic button, it got disabled, I clicked again and it stayed disabled, even so the red text said "MCE speech recognition is now acvtive". The microphone icon in MCE panel doesn't enable/disable microphone. It enables/disables speech reco in MCE context only, as the mike could be needed by other applications. Do you have multiple audio devices? Which devices are listed under "Sound In" and "Sound Out" in MCE "About" tab? Gerald R https://www.multicrewxp.com
