February 8, 20206 yr I have a frequent problem that I am beginning to think is caused by my MSI GTX 1060 6GB GPU. My system (i5-6600K 3.5Ghz, 500GB Samsung SSD, 16GB RAM, GTX 1060, GB GPU) runs X Plane 11 very good EXCEPT that I often get a crash when going to Chase view mode. There is no .rpt file in in the Crash Report folder and no sure way to repeat -- it is totally random. I know there are some issues with the 1060 such as the card will not reawaken my monitor from sleep and when I get the XP crash the card loses signal to the monitor and I have to restart the computer which leads me to believe the crash is GPU related. Any ideas? Thanks
February 8, 20206 yr Power cable, monitor cable, PCIe slot, borked card altogether... My GTX1060 6GB works just fine. 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days
February 9, 20206 yr Author Perhaps. But this begs the question : why is the selection of "chase view mode" the ONLY cause of crash I ever have????
February 10, 20206 yr Maybe a plugin? Maybe a bad driver installation? 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days
February 10, 20206 yr Very unlikely a GPU issue. - Currently giving X-Plane 12.10 a spin on Shadow PC. 10 years with X-Plane now, since 10.20
February 14, 20206 yr Author Thanks Bjoern and Colonel X, it appears you were right on. Over the past few days the problem became worse so I took your suggestions, reset the power and data cables and removed/reset the GPU (which I suspect had a bad seating in the slot). Now all is back to smooth flying. Thanks much. Dave
February 15, 20206 yr Glad to hear! 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days
