I agree, this is a very effective tweak for autogen. Set your very dense settings separately for trees and buildings, so you could set 1 to 6000 max (very dense) for trees and 1 to 6000 (very dense for buildings) and adjust your slider to normal or sparse etc...and it will scale down these numbers the lower you set the slider from max.Good thing is if you like buildings but not trees, set the buildings obviously to a high number and the trees to low or vice versa. It's ashame a separate slider wasn't used in the GUI.Ian.

Just to add, these parameters can be inserted into saved cfg files so one could save different autogen max settings and load on the fly instead of going into the fsx.cfg everytime.Ian.

Except, of course, Joe Average who never heard of AVSIM nor an fsx.cfg file. Sure, there will be lots of "fixes" in the coming weeks, but I think we need to think a little about the average guy with a 2-year old computer that he shares with his wife and kids. Joe Average never heard of Vista, nor DX10, nor DC CPU's and, for sure, isn't going to by a new computer just to run FSX. So, "everyone" isn't going to find the sweet spot for either perfoemance or looks. All the Joe Average's who buy FSX this holiday season are going to find out just how tough it is to run this program on a computer that works just fine for everything else. And, IMNSHO, that's not a good thing for the hobby. Doug

I couldn't get it to work that way. Only in the fsx.cfg file does it have any affect. Dave

Same can be said for FS9. I have more tweaks to that Cfg file I don't even know what they are anymore, not to mention all the add-ons which Joe Average will never buy to enhance his simming experience. Seems the hobby has flourished despite Joes ignorance.Ian.

There is a learning curve for ANY game.

I would say that most of the FS hobbiests know about Avsim, addons, tweaks and the like so it shouldn't have a major impact there.Dave

I stand corrected. Here I am editing my saved cfg instead of the FSX.cfg. Too early in the morning. Anyway, even better performance with 1000 and 3000 at normal slider. Man what a difference.Ian.

Looked great, seemed wonderful from the manual, but would not run on my PC, system reqs were just under the posted requirements and it went to the desktop every time I tried to run it. It motivated me to upgrade my system and even though it took awhile to save up for the upgrade, it was worth it and I enjoyed the game for quite some time.Regards, MichaelKDFW

Would I be right in guessing that's one of the old B17 games? Probably B17 II the Mighty 8th.
