Low CPU and GPU usage with low fps

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Mid flight everything works fine, getting around 60 fps in cockpit view flying pmdg and 130 on external. But in some big airports like JFK, I'm getting 14-21 fps with 20-40% of CPU and GPU use. Do anyone have a solution, can't get good performance on heavy airports.

thanks.

Specifications:

I9-9900K 3.6Ghz

Asus ROG Maximus XI Hero

GeForce RTX2080 TI

64GB RAM

Solution--overclock your CPU.  With a good quality cooling solution, you should be able to get close to 5 GHz on all 8 cores.

Total CPU utilization is a pretty useless metric...you're very likely hitting the wall on Core 0 where the main thread runs, and 20-40% is just the average of the CPU usage across all the cores...and the other cores are probably relatively lightly loaded because the core running the main thread is maxxed out and can't farm out any more work to them.

Otherwise, look at your sliders on CPU-intensive loads like autogen and AI traffic.

Thanks for the reply, I will try this solution.

You're saying when you're in a demanding location like KJFK you're seeing 20-40% CPU load and about the same for GPU load, and have frames at 14-21?
