You can rob as many houses as you like and the beleaguered police will do their best to catch the thieves, but their limited resources will mean it'll likely be a dead end hunt. But if you start trying to flounce a big corporation for a large sum of money, that kind of figure buys a lot of detectives and a desire to discourage similar efforts. And there is no honour among thieves when it comes to the chance of getting a considerable paycheck in return for a name.
