Map view without top-down view option?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Just updated to version 1.8 and enjoying it! 🙂

Only thing is, when the good old 'open map' command was still in place it did exactly that: open the map window.
Now if I want to view the map it throws me out of the cockpit into top-down view, while all I want it to do is open the map window like it did with the voice command.

I allready assigned a hotkey in the .ini file, but still the view in the sim goes to top-down which is an immersion killer for me.

Is there a way to disable the view-change? Couldn't find it in the manual.

FSX:SE btw.

Thnx in advance,

Hans

Hey Kaashaas,

In v1.7, the sim top-down view, forced you to always open that view, above of the ugcx map window. Some users, really liked the old airport map window we had, so we decided to add an option in v1.8, to disable this new sim top-down view. If you have v1.8, which I think you have now, you can just:

1- Open UGCX main menu, then "Options", then "Aircraft Profile Settings"

2- Untick/uncheck the "Automatically display the map simulation view" option

3- Save changes

This will disable that top-down sim view from automatically appear, whenever, you open the map window.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Manuel

Manuel,

In either the top down view or the map only view, where is the notation of the direction of pushback? "Nose facing southeast", or "tail west" ?  It was in the old map view clearly at the top but now in the top down view I can't really find it.  Top down is great to show you where you will end up but you cant get to next step without the direction identified.  Thanks!

Hey MarkW,

well, the direction is not shown in the map anymore, but, when you go to the next step thru the menues or thru voice, you can open the main menu then select "preview routes" it will open automatically the top-down, then you can cycle between the available routes, and it will show the route in the sim and in the chart, and the route's name in the FS's menu screen text, at the top of the simulation for a few seconds, and the route's name at the map's title, so you can identify which one, prior selecting it thru the menu, or thru voice, in case you use voice, you would need to say the entire phrase: "We are ready for pushback and engine start, [xxxx]" where "[xxxx]" is the route's name, and the speech engine should recognize which one you meant, then it should continue with pushback start.

Also, it's very important that we are not identifying the custom/automatic pushback routes, by it's direction only, we do by the route name,.... if the gate/parking doesn't have a custom pushback route associated with it, the module will automatically create it/them (in case of various pushback options), then it will place a name to them automatically based on the final aircraft's direction as before, but now, the system recognizes custom routes names, and we identify either custom/automatic pushback routes by their names, so they are unique, this is for support airports where there are gates/parking with parallell pushback routes (two or more pushback routes with same final direction)

Manuel,

First of all I tested yesterday with the Maddog MD88 and everything works well (no UGCX menu on right click, no CTD, etc.).  Now the next part is I have "preview routes" selected and when I call for the pushback it automatically shows me the top down view which is very good.  My question is this, are you able to cycle through the automatic routes using voice? (I never use custom and have not really found a reason to do so...that may just be me).  I do see on the top down view in the green bar the direction.

Once you have selected a route, how do you get rid of the top down markings on the ground scenery?  Just close the minimized map ?

Thanks!

No, from v1.7, there is no voice command to cycle between the custom/automatic routes, you would need to configure a custom hot key, in the, UGCX.ini file, check out these entries:

ShowNextRouteKey=(off)
ShowPrevRouteKey=(off)

Check out the last section of the "UGCX Manual Part 4 - Optional Key Assignments" manual.

Yes, you just need to close the minimized map window, or right-click anywhere on the top-down sim view of UGCX, then a pop-menu appears, then select "Exit and close map simulation view"

OK thanks, I assigned keys for opening menu and starting pushback but not for cycling through the routes.  OK on exit and close map.

Personally if there is any reasonable way to do all of this with voice commands that would be ideal, as this is already setup for voice and eliminates the messing around with shortcut keys.

I think we could consider, reenabling all these, since now we have a PTT (push-to-talk) key for control the voice commands from being triggered without warning...
