April 13, 20206 yr I don't know how many people are using the Aeroplane Heaven C-119 boxcar add-on, but it seems hard to find any information on it. I just bought it recently and it is a real nice add-on. Whoever made it has gone to a lot of trouble to recreate an authentic look and feel to the aircraft, and the cockpit controls and systems are definitely above average. Anyway,. my question is, does anyone know if there is a VOR in this aircraft. One is mentioned in the manual, but the only functionality I can get out the said gauge is as an ADF indicator... April 13, 20206 yr It's an RMI: http://krepelka.com/fsweb/learningcenter/navigation/thermi.htm Edited April 14, 20206 yr by Chock Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
April 14, 20206 yr Author Hi Alan Thanks for the reply. As you say it is an RMI. It says so in the manual too, where a diagram states that gauge 28 is an RMI (ADF 1 + VOR 1) dial. So considering this and the fact that there are NAV receivers on the pedestal, one would think there'd be a VOR needle on the dial. I tried setting the frequency of both NAV receivers to a nearby VOR but no dial responded to that. This was at 12000 feet and a distance of about 10 nm from the VOR. May be there just isn't one and that's OK, but perhaps there is a hidden switch I am missing. I'd like to know for sure so I can use the Flight Planner properly. April 15, 20206 yr The RMI does read out the direction to both the NAV 1 VOR station with the fat yellow needle, and to an NDB station with the skinny green needle. Make sure you enter the frequency in the bottom windows of the selector knobs of the radio heads, then click on the top of the knob to change to that frequency. The top numbers are the selected frequency and the bottom row of numbers id the standby frequency. The ILS gauge and light does work when you enter the proper frequency in the NAV 1 radio head. Now having said that, I can not figure out where NAV 2 radio read out gauge (OBS) is I can't seem to figure out where it is.
April 16, 20206 yr Author Thanks. Yes this is what I see (although the fat needle seems to be more white than yellow). There is no needle for NAV 2 it seems, which means you must use one VOR and one NDB to navigate, unless you want to switch back and forth between stations. I've just tried this aircraft in VR and it's amazing. Jason D, using P3Dv5 and DCS Intel Core i9-9900K @ 3.6GHz, nVidia GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER, 32GB RAM, Oculus Rift S
