After update 2004: only C drive remains. Other drives gone

Featured Replies

Any one has a solution ?

Even in Disk managment and Device Manager only my C drive (M2) shows . The other 3 SSD's do not show anymore.

Also my DVD drive has disappeared...

In the BIOS they exist like before.

Thanks, Gerard

Sounds like some drivers need to be (re)installed again. Intel or AMD? Or better: Do you know which Motherboard you are using? What does „Windows Update“ offer when you open it and click on „optional Updates“? Usually you‘ll find the latest chipset drivers here 🙂

Edit: Sorry, I looked on the mobile website and there was no signature visible. Yes, I guess reinstalling the Intel Chipset Drivers will solve your problem 😉 It should work through Windows Update, otherwise you can get them on the Intel Website.

Did the update come in MS update or did you force install 2004.

I think Windows defaults to not showing empty drives. If you put a DVD into the drive it should appear in Windows Explorer until the disk is removed.

Just reinstalled the Inf drivers but no difference

Everything connected with SATA cables remain invisible for Windows.

Thanks, that kind of posts I have read.

Because it all are SATA connected drives ( SSD, harddrive and DVD ) it must have to do with drivers I guess.

Could you please start your "Device Manager" (Press Windows Key and start typing, it should appear otherwise it's in the Windows Control Panel) and maybe attach a screenshot of this window so I can see where drivers are missing? SATA devices not working are most likely the chipset drivers, because the motherboard chipset is responsible for your SATA connectors. If you reinstalled them correctly, they should reappear.. so this is strange. No worries, I'm sure your data is still there. 🙂

Solved : by installing the Intel Ralid Storafe Technology driver, which before I have never installed myself.

Thanks for helping

Thanks 🙂 The second screenshot is the most interesting for me, I think we don't need your EFI/BIOS settings. Could you tell me what you find when you open "Andere apparaten"? These should be devices with missing drivers, there's at least one device, otherwise this "folder" wouldn't be there. I think we're getting close.. And maybe just to check, which drivers are installed when you look into "Opslagcontrollers"?

I asked this before, but do you maybe have this particular "link" (Optional updates) on the Windows Update Settings Page like this?

Windows-10-Optional-Updates-1.png

When I clicked on this, it offered me to install several Intel Motherboard Drivers, for example the mentioned Chipset Drivers. But if not, we'll find what you need elsewhere - but maybe you could try using this Windows Update functionality first 🙂

Which system is it by the way? The 7940x or 8700k? Just asking because there are two in your signature 🙂

Edit: Nevermind then, glad you found a solution 😊

Surprised you have never had to install RST  (!)

I'm glad you posted the solution, now I will know how to quickly solve this if I encounter the same problem with Build 2004.

Reading reports that 2004 SSD optimiser running several times a day check the drive settings, MS are working on a fix.
