June 21, 20205 yr Hi folks, what can I do to improve the performance in the Los Angeles bassin? When I Fly in this area my fps drops down to 12-15, at LAX (FSDT) somtimes 10-12 fps. It does‘nt matter if I have ORBX SoCal, openLC NA or the default scenery activated, it doesn’t matter if day or night, it doesn’t matter if traffic on or off. In other areas, for example London or Germany (with ORBX Germany North and South) I get minimum 20-25 fps, in other parts of the world 35 (locked at 35 fps). my specs: Intel i7 7700k @5GHz // RTX 2080 // P3d v5 HF1 Any suggestions? Greetings Andrew Bowler
June 21, 20205 yr What are the % settings for your AI Traffic? I'd also roll back road traffic. Ian S
June 21, 20205 yr With the amount of airports in close proximity, there is a lot of data that needs to be processed. Try this: Not a miracle cure either, but moving those airport objects and turning off one or two options in SCA's control panel, such as Power Lines, can make a difference between unusable stutter fest and flyable with only occasional stutters. YMMV, but worked for me. With the default scenery, you could move into a separate folder or rename the file type to .off for the files APX16190.bgl and APX16200.bgl in the Prepar3D v5\Scenery\0202\scenery folder. That will mean you don't have airports and airfields (other than any of your add-on 3rd party ones) at any other towns and cities near L.A. though. June 21, 20205 yr Author Disabling the SCA-airports gaves me about 10fps - thank you, will do further tests. Greetings Andrew Bowler
June 21, 20205 yr If you're looking for smoothness, try turning off hyper threading in your PC BIOS. I stubbornly resisted doing this for years but it fixed my micro stutters at KJFK and EGLL. I have 4.5 HF3 so it may not apply to V5. 9800X3D | 5080 | 32GB | 2TB NVME | Dell Ultrasharp U3415W 34" | 3440 x 1440 60Hz
