June 22, 20205 yr I am researching which PC to buy, but would like some advice on graphics cards. Is the 2080ti worth the extra expense over a 2080 super for P3d v5? Obviously the Ti will give more FPS, but enough of an increase to warrant so much money? Would two 2080 super cards in SLI configuration be a better option than a single 2080ti? Also will replace my 1980x1080 monitor. Is it better to go 2K or 4K for P3d? I’ve been running the sim on a gaming laptop with a 2.8Ghz processor And 1080 Max Q graphics card. It is playable but settings need to be low to medium. June 22, 20205 yr I upgraded from a 1070 to a 2080ti and I have no regrets with spending the money. To me if you’re going to buy a graphics card for P3Dv5 and you can afford something with 11gb VRAM you absolutely should do it. I guess the supers don’t have more than 8Gb vram so the ti wins on that. More than that: Super vs Ti = Memory bandwidth 496Gb/s vs 616 Gb/s, Cuda cores 3072 vs 4352, 256 vs 354 bit memory interface. The 11GB is only part of the story, the 616 Gb/s bandwidth is I believe also a reason why many 2080 Ti owners are happy. That performance along with what DX12 brings has helped a lot of CPUs. The load between GPU and CPU is much more balanced now. As seen elsewhere the posts on 3090Ti rumours are looking for 40% improvement on 2080Ti and if Big Navi and RDNA2 live up to the hype for AMD they will hopefully and finally start to put some downward pressure on the nVidia gravy train. Both AMD & nVidia are playing the release date game at the moment each waiting for the other to draw first. If you are serious about simming the best performing graphics card you can afford at the time is always the right purchasing decision imo. A.Chryss - near YSCB 1.
