''FSX IS AMAZING'' - I DONT THINK SO!!!! PLEASE HELP ME

Featured Replies

Well i recived a copy of FSX standard edition today and i dont know why i was excited to get it. it is awfull. below are a list of problems that i cant seem to fix. if anyone can help me then i would appreciate it so that i dont have to take it back to the shop (or burn it he he)firstly the graphics are all blurred. i have tried numerous times to reset the realism settings and the display settings but that doesnt help. when i increased the quality of the display settings to ultra high it got worse and i dont know what to do with the hardware settings.can someone tell me what settings they have it on so i can see where i am going wrong.secondly the speed of it is so slow a snail could catch up faster. it is all jolty and takes forever for things to load. I chose and airport, airline, and time in free fly but when i clicked fly now it took literaly 5 minutes to load (i know there is a lot to load but that more than fs 2004) and when it had loaded the graphics where blurred so when i changed the graphics it took 5 minutes for the new graphics to load. please please please help me anyone as i dont think i will be keeping it unless some drastic changes happen. MIKE

If you have a 128-meg or less video card, you will need to do something to reduce the texture load or everything will turn very blurry. You can either do this with the sliders, or use some of the tweaks at this website, or both:http://www.fox-fam.com/wordpress/?page_id=41A 256 or 512 meg video card will make a huge difference over 128 meg card.Load time is impacted most by the Texture Resolution slider and whether or not you have the Detailed Ground Texture box checked. You can resize your ground textures which will also help with load times. If you have at least 1 gig of RAM, 2.5 GHZ CPU and 256 meg video card, you should be able to get FSX working beautifully with some tweaking. But you still won't be able to max everything out. Some of the settings are not really intended to be turned on even with top of the line hardware available today.Matt

hello againi am not really sure what my system drivers are.i know that it is installed into drive E not the c drive that my FS9 was installed to. i think my graphics controller is intel® 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV/i have windows XP but not the professional edition and my and mu color quality is medium 16 biti am not really sure as i am not computer minded but i hope someone understands what i mean, and can help me.thanks

The first thing I would recommend is that you resist any temtation that you may have to act hastily and give up too soon on FSX. I too was very frustrated when I started the game right out of the box.I have been able to get improvements out of the game by making various tweaks and adjustments within the sim. In my experience, just changing the slider settings alone didn't really improve things much. I only realized frame rate improvements after reading this and other forums and implementing some of the suggested tweaks I found there. There's quite a bit of information in the forums because allot of people are experiencing the same thing that you and I are. I'm going to try to be patient and give it some time. I really do think FSX has some really neat stuff to offer.Hang in there and best wishes.

Hello Mike,There is very little anyone can do unless you give the infoabout your system.First of all if your using XP as the operating system thenclick on the 'start' button, then 'all programs' then 'accessories'then 'system tools' in system tools you will find an entry for'system information' click on that link and you will get a windowwhich lists all your system.List your CPU/VIDEO CARD/VIDEO RAM/SYSTEM RAMYou will find all that in your 'Hardware Resources' entry. If AWF is correct and I think he is then you are using an integratedmotherboard with 64Mb video card and that just will not cut it forFSX.I am using a Nvidia 6800LE with 128Mb of ddr ram and an AthlonXP3200+ CPU and it ran the demo at around 15-18 fps, but to getthat I had to tweak quite a lot. There are quite a number of very knowledgeable people on thisforum and if you give them the right info I'm sure they can helpyou out.Regards a luck
