Multiplicity KVM mode and P2ATC Setup

Featured Replies

Hello Dave

Apologies if I am in the wrong place but I am really struggling to understand how to set up Multiplicity HVM mode (to be able to use its triple click to keep focus on all screens) with P2ATC. P2ATC User Guide gives a decent description on how to set up Spad.Next but only a passing comment on Multiplicity "triple click" (which only works if one has the KVM version).  I was previously running Multiplicity KM (Seamless), installed as Primary, on same desktop with X-P 11 (Russ Barlow's three monitor setup), networked to P2ATC running on a laptop.

I have upgraded to Multiplicity KVM with it installed as Primary in Seamless mode on desktop, as before. It works, without the "triple click" functionality, as before. On selecting KVM mode everything goes to hell: the pointer and desktop are duplicated on desktop and laptop and its a mission to get it all undone.

So, I am basically looking for help on what settings should be selected on the KVM tab to make it all work.

Regards, Rob

It's not a triple click.  Here's the instruction from the P2A User's Guide:

"Pressing the Ctrl key (left one) three times on the Primary will send any subsequent keyboard input to all Secondary Multiplicity computers simultaneously.  Pressing it again three times stops the keyboard broadcasting. An audible 'beep' will sound when turned on and off."

It's possible that Stardock has changed something in Multiplicity.  If the pressing of the left Ctrl key three times doesn't change the keyboard mode to allow use from both PCs, I would suggest posting a question on their forum.

Hi Dave

I have made some progress with Multiplicity by confirming that KVM mode is active (besides moving the mouse freely from laptop (P2ATC) to desktop (X-P11) in Seamless mode, I can also drag and drop files between computers ...so it is working).

When I "'triple click" Ctrl with mouse pointer on P2ATC on Secondary laptop, diminishing-size concentric rings flash on the screen for a few seconds - so something is happening. Doing same on Primary nothing happens and focus is not hot on both screens.

The current set up has Multiplicity Primary on the desktop (running X-P11) and Secondary on the laptop (running P2ATC). Multiplicity instructions give no specific guidance for P2ATC/X-Plane 11 as to choice of Primary/Secondary and I couldn't find anything helpful on their Forum).

Do you think reinstalling Multiplicity with laptop-P2ATC as Primary will make any difference?

Thanks and regards

When I had it set up, I had the X-Plane PC as primary.

After you do the Ctl triple click, you have to have the mouse focus on the PC you want to use the keyboard for.  SO, for example, you can't be using the mouse in X-Plane and have keystrokes being sent to P2A.  You have to move the mouse and click on the P2A PC to make the keyboard work on that PC.

InputDirector is a free solution for that, and seems less convoluted.

I'm more interested in Audio sharing by Multiplicity, whereas you can reach a client PC on one microphone connected to the Sim computer. Did anybody try that? It's very convenient sending voice commands both to VoiceAttack (for example) on the Sim PC and to P2A installed on the Client PC. Now I have to use a professional DJ board for that, lol.

Thanks,

Hello Dave

Forgive me for trying your patience on this matter but I remain confused. Page 167 of the manual states: "NOTE: You can “triple click” the control key to make the keyboard hot in both PCs at the same time so your mouse can be anywhere and the PTT button still work. The only caution with this is to be sure you don’t have a lot of HotKeys set up in X-Plane" but what you are saying in your above post is contrary to this statement?

To recap my setup: X-P11 is running on desktop where Multiplicity is set up as primary and is shunting X-P11 audio to P2AT laptop with Mulitplicity set up as secondary. Multiplicity allows me to move files between desktop and laptop. If I "triple click" Ctrl key with mouse focus on desktop or laptop, nothing changes and I still have to move the mouse to P2ATC laptop to activate PTT. The only hotkey I have set up is "*" for PTT.

The only advice I got from Stardock (Multiplicity) was that the KVM version was required for "triple click" to work.

It's been a while since I had this set up, so what I wrote at the time was likely correct at that time.

Whatever Stardock says should be correct since it is their product.  Sorry I can't be of more help.

Perhaps someone currently using Multiplicity could chime in here.

Thanks Dave. I will keep an eye out for any further suggestions and follow up with Stardock.

Kind regards

I installed Multiplicity KVM in demo mode...I was also struggling to get the main PC keyboard working with "three times ctr clicking" all over my two pc's wherever my mouse was located, but then I found in the Seamless setting that the function has to be enabled. Now it is working.

Also I am using latest Spad.neXT version 0.9.15.45( which also allows now assigning keyboard keys) for assigning button nr 2 (white push button) on my Alpha yoke to assign keyboard letter "v" which is also set for the PTT in P2ATC...
