August 6, 20205 yr I'm wanting to put all of my P3dv5 stuff onto a new M2 ssd. Both ssd's are Samsung. There is cloning software available to move from one to the other. My question is would it be better to delete P3d from the smaller ssd and reinstall on the M2 or give the cloning software a shot. My gut tells me to reinstall. Thanks in advance, Bill W
August 6, 20205 yr If Your cloned drive M2 is going to replace the original (ie. same drive letter), then You don't need to delete P3D, but YOU NEED TO DEACTIVATE IT beforehand. You can still use the old drive by assigning it another drive letter. Edited August 6, 20205 yr by RamonB Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
August 6, 20205 yr Go Samsung web and download the cloning software, cloned my C windows drive to a larger 1TB SSD in less than 30mins. https://www.flickr.com/photos/154944674@N05/49984943967/in/dateposted-public/ Raymond Fry.
August 7, 20205 yr It depends if the SSD you want to swap is a system drive (the one with Windows on it), or just a secondary drive with data and applications on it. If it's a system drive, you'll need to use cloning software to ensure everything works correctly. However if it isn't, you can simply copy and paste everything from the old drive to the new one and then reassign the drive letter to be the same as the old one once you've disconnected it. That's what I did for my P3D drive (which now will be a shared P3D/MSFS drive) and it worked fine.
