August 10, 20205 yr Hey everyone. Really excited for the release next week. Does anyone know when the review embargo is supposed to break for FS2020? I’m really curious to see what kind of scores this gets. Not that it matters to most people here, but incredible reviews could really boost the sim among more casual gamers. Outside of small bugs here and there, and based on reading all the previews from the main gaming/tech outlets, it seems very probable that the new edition is going to get widespread acclaim. I remember the biggest knock on the FSX reviews was how even high end computers were struggling to run FSX at launch. From what I’ve seen, that should not be an issue this time. The recommended specs are pretty reasonable, and the graphics on Medium appear to still be vastly better than most other games at the highest settings. So, does anyone know when we can expect the first reviews, and anyone want to guess on what the general consensus will look like? 1 more week!!!
August 11, 20205 yr Commercial Member I don't have an answer, but I'd love to see an independent review of the extra airports and aircraft in the non-standard editions. Maybe I missed it, but I'm not sure I have seen even pictures of them. www.supertrafficboard.com
August 11, 20205 yr Dunno when the embargo lifts, but I'll probably be doing one for my channel, that I do know. 🙂 Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
August 11, 20205 yr For the most part, Gamespot only releases official first reviews of new PC and console titles no more than a day or two before, if not actually on the same day as release of the game. I take their accolades with a grain of salt, but I regard their criticisms more closely for flaws that I may not have noticed or that may affect my purchase or enjoyment of the game. It's like movie reviews from "professional" critics. Grain-of-salt. The REAL review is your own review of course. August 11, 20205 yr I do not think they are going to let people review it until they have the release candidate in the reviewer's hands. The devs have already made definitive statements to the testers about bugs that are fixed in their version but that are present in the preview build. My guess is that the reviews won't happen until release day or the day after.
