Seasons... or just snow?

Featured Replies

Having seasons isn’t as easy as the previous sims, as those were just generic texture swaps. When dealing with real works satellite imagery, it oils take a lot more work.

Yup, exactly. Military forces have big problems with this. Cruise missiles which use optical terrain feature recognition for navigation, by overlaying and comparing what their camera is detecting, with a database of imagery stored on board can completely lose the plot if they fly over terrain in a different season from what is in their standard database, where things look very different. If companies with military budgets cannot easily solve this issue, it's hardly going to be a breeze for the developers of an X Box game.

If Asobo is gonna reveal a surprise on launch, it's not going to be that they've come up with a solution to the insurmountable navigational difficulties with the BGM-109 Tomahawk Cruise Missile, and as a spinoff, it means we can have Santa in our sixty quid flight sim. 🤣
