August 20, 20205 yr Oh.... X-Plane is so so so much easier to install, and UNINSTALL !!! 🙂 P.S.: No pun intended! I Love XPlane too, but, ya know, uninstalling anything is always the biggest thrill for me ... August 20, 20205 yr Author 9 hours ago, Reader said: There are two parts to the installation. The first part installs the app. The second part takes place after the app has been started and installs the core files. Of course, at this stage you can, having first created your target folder, choose where to place them. As I tried to explain, by default, the first part is installed onto the C drive. This can be altered by using the Windows 10 setting for all apps but it is just as easy to let it install the 900 MB to the C drive and move it later, if desired. Having directed the app to install the core files to your chosen location, it is then possible to transfer the files that you describe as "dump a number of other folders in several places over which you have no control (or access)." to a location of your choice, using the Move function, as described and illustrated above. We seem to be going round in circles. Apologies if I have not explained myself. I understand everything you've written, so there's no need to just repeat it all again. However: At the very start of the installation, it gave me a list of DRIVES to choose from. I chose D and it did indeed install "the app" to D*, it did not default to C as you state. When I say a location of my choice, I mean I would like to specify e.g. D:\FS2020 and for the installer to put the app there. Specifying the drive and the having the installer create a number of hidden folders all over the shop, to which I don't even get read permission, is not my idea of "a location of my choice".
August 20, 20205 yr You should be able to do that, you will need to create the empty D:\FS2020 folder first and then once the initial 900 MB or so download is complete, run the game. It will reach the "checking for updates" screen and when it finds that you have not installed the core files, it will tell you where it is going to put them. At that point, click on the Browse button and point it to D:\FS2020 and it will place all the core files in there for you. Edited August 20, 20205 yr by Reader
