Just my theory but I think if you miss out on this initial shipment of cards you won't be getting any 3000 series until the holiday season at the soonest. Hopefully by then the console market will ease pressure. 

It's funny because people try to make it out as an Nvidia vs AMD thing but at its core it is TMSC vs Samsung who hold all the chips (double pun intended). Because what does it matter how great your cards are if the companies mass producing your silicon can't keep up with demand?

I agree, maybe there will be some problems with availability at start. Consider that at amazon.it (Italy, where I'm based) yesterday a couple of 3080/3090 Gigabyte cards appeared on the market as pre-order and in a few hours they blocked the pre-order (probably because they filled up all the slots). On the other hand, AMD will release the new 6000 GPU series at the end of october, so we'll see if they will be palatable. I'm just undecided between 3080 and 3090, I would love an hybrid EVGA one, we'll see :)

I have actually 2 x RTX 2080 ti, Asus Strix and MSI

It's a long story why I own two, I don't want to go into details 

I'd like to give it a try, to install the second one, only for MSFS 2020 

Do you think, it's worth? I'd say, I need a better PSU, right now I have a 750W Corsair RM

What else do I need, for SLI ? 

I have the original packages for both cards 

I never used SLI / NVlink, before

Hopefully, my CPU it's okay : I7 [email protected] 

Any advices are welcome, thank you in advance

Don’t.  I have concluded with a great deal of certainty that it doesn’t work.  Gpu #2 might be doing other activities, however it isn’t contributing anything to the simulator.

i am moving this computer over to my non-sim related games that can use it, and have ordered a similar machine to mine with the Gtx 3090.

So, MSFS 2020 isn't SLI compatible ?

I'm not sure who's doing the " hardest" job when I fly ( pretty low ) over large cities

Average, I have 30 fps( 4k@60h ) with everything to ULTRA, except the Bloom and the some other non important things ( Ai liveries, etc ) 

Today I did a test over Paris, 10 fps or even less 

Overclocking the CPU to 5,3 - 5,4 GHz ( hard to achieve this ) wouldn't help much, I guess

Unless they enable it when they go to DX12, and that is not a certainty, then  it will never be sli compatible.  
You would have to enable developer mode, and determine with their FPS tool if you have a constraint.  Mostly everyone with higher end gpu’ s such as a 2080ti would most likely be main thread as a constraint...another potential for DX12 or further optimization by Asobo.

Specs are in my signature for the current machine.  3090 = better 4K performance and I will be adding a 4K monitor When the new machine arrives.

Better 4k performance means, about 35 - 40 % more?

I have a 1000 watt psu.

as far as performance increase, this video seems to show good increase with the 3090.
