VFR flying

Featured Replies

I have just flown my first VFR flight in C172. My experience was generally great, however I must say that I felt a liitle lost. Why? Because of the in-sim VFR map. It really sucks! This is basically the same map that is displayed on the Garmin panel and its detail-level is sooo poor. It only shows rivers and lakes, no towns, cities, even forests there. How am I supposed to navigate in real VFR? I opened Google Maps and alt-tabbed during the flight, but even then it was hard to navigate and to guess what town I'm just passing over. I hope someone will develop an addon with better maps...

Take a look at Little NavMap it should be working in MSFS. Or SimToolkit pro. Both are Free.

I agree the VFR map does lack a lot of detailed information. I personally use google maps on my second monitor which works well.

I also don't like how we can't remove our location (aircraft) from the VFR map, I prefer not to use it like a GPS. Unless there is a option to remove your position that I have missed?
