October 27, 200619 yr So it seems there are badges in FSX that can be awarded for visiting certain places.I stumbled purely by coincidence upon the "Most Remote Airport" badge, which is awarded by landing at SCIP (Mataveri International on Easter Island). Now I'm curious about what others may be out there.Has anyone else found such badges?
October 27, 200619 yr I got one for landing at ten different airports, I presume there is one for 25 differnt ones, 50 etc, as it has badges like that for plain old landings.I would guess there is one for maybe some of the high altitude airfields in South America and maybe one for Khatmandu, since it's one of the most dangerous ones. Some of the mission badges are quite funny too, such as the one that gives you a free breakfast offer after the Base Camp Charter mission where you land in the snowy mountains in the Maule. You can create your own badges via the SDK when you design a mission too, so expect to see some wierd ones in the future :-) Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
October 27, 200619 yr OK, yeah, thanks, but where are the powerkits ? and no healthkits ?!:-outtaMario:+
October 27, 200619 yr Southernmost airport - McMurdo Station, Antartica (NZPG) Alert (CYLT) might get the Northenmost if it exists. I thought I was there, but I don't have anything for it. Is there any airport north of it?

October 27, 200619 yr Nice to see you enjoying the search... Maybe someone else will create some rewards for the community to look for as well :)
October 27, 200619 yr Since you mentioned the sdk program, I am curious if you think that I could do anything with that, bearing in mind that I have NO experience in programing or anything like that. Is it worth installing under those circumstances?
October 27, 200619 yr Having a go with the SDK is just like anything else, a case of reading the instructions and giving it a shot, although as in most SDKs, I think that they should employ a writer rather than programmer to actually write the SDK manual, as there are times where you wish they'd just use plain English. But it is no different from most software manuals in that respect I suppose. The missions tutorial on creating your own mission with the SDK is fairly straightforward and there is no reason why you'd need to be a real 'computer geek' to be able to create something, as it is largely a case of 'do this, click on that' in the SDK tutorial. This is a vast improvement on previous SDK manuals which were in no way aimed at casual users, so a big improvement there, at least in terms of allowing more people to have a go at it (I notice you hear a lot of complaints about things in the FSX forums, but no-one ever seems to praise attempts like this to widen the appeal of getting involved with adding to the hobby, so I'll praise it here - good on you Devs). Having said that, the SDK is certainly not devoid of faults, but it's nice for less experienced users, and ultimately might encourage them to get really deeply involved in making stuff for FS.Of course to create a badge for your mission, should you choose to create one, (since that was the point of the thread) might require some skills in a drawing or photo-editing programme such as Illustrator or Photoshop, but I imagine that Paint Shop would suffice to get passable results too, providing you save it in the requisite file format and crop it to size.As is apparent from some posts on AVSIM and other places, not everyone is a fan of the missions and badges in FS, claiming that it makes it more like a game than a simulator, but I personally think it's a great feature and adds an interesting dimension to the sim. And, bearing in mind that if you want to ignore that feature completely, you can do, I don't really see what the complaints are about. As for the many people who use FS, but never intend to climb into a real aircraft, there is still a goal to aim for with the badge system, and, it's a lot less up its own #### than the phoney pilot certificates you could print out, that previous versions of FS have sported.I'm a pilot in real life but I still get a smile on my face when I see I've got another one of those badges in FS, so there :-)Happy Landings. October 28, 200619 yr Thanks a lot for your very interesting reply and I believe you have convinced me to get my feet wet (at least my toes)lol, and try it. After all, so what if I get frustrated. I've been that way before, but I just thought that if it is extremely technical, I wouldn't bother with it. Thanks again.:)
