  1. Beautiful airplane isn't it. My father said "Now that is what an airplane should look like!"And so he built one (just not an E model). Thanks for thanking us BTW. We've been called much worse! ;)
  2. I hate to tell you this, but there is no XP bonus for not skipping in that mission, or other story missions for that matter. Other than the Clandestine Cargo job, the jobs you can fly do have the XP Bonus present. We realize now that we need to be more consistent with things like that, things just got a bit hectic in the later weeks...
  3. Cool, you were the lead designer for Flight Unlimited III. I enjoyed the whole series.
  4. Clandestine jobs are very rare, but do show up at non-tower airports.
  5. Just so you know, not skipping on Hawaii Photobook doesn't grant bonus XP.
  6. The missions (from the missions link on the map menus) probably won't have the issues where you have to be sure and be exactly on the runway. The jobs however do.
  7. You must touchdown and land on the runway, then slow while on the runway. If you are even a foot off on touchdown, it won't trigger. It can be difficult on the small dirt strips for sure. I know it's frustrating when it happens. After a successful landing, you should be directed to park the aircraft. After shutting down it should end correctly. If this isn't what is causing this problem for you, then I'm uncertain what is going on.
  8. The Stearman doesn't have a P&W R985, but rather it is an aircraft that started life with a 220 hp engine and was later modified for the Lycoming 300 hp engine. It also served life as a crop duster for awhile before being restored to pristine condition. It is one beautiful aircraft.
  9. Pressing the spacebar enters and exits mouse flying mode and shows/hides the crosshairs.
  10. Flying multiplayer with the "friends only" setting eliminates most, if not all, risk of offensive players being present.
  11. Good question...Urg, so hard not to comment on the other stuff.
  12. The Mustang in Acceleration is a modified racing Mustang. Some of the mods in this Mustang allow the pilot to greatly overboost the engine. The high boost levels increase the intake temperature (pressure causes the temp to rise) and without cooling the intake charge, the engine cylinders will experience detonation and eventually fail. The stock Merlin engine manifold pressure limit is around 65 inches, so you can have a perfectly reliable engine if you keep the manifold pressure lower (i.e. use less throttle). The more power you use the greater the likelihood of getting damage. You can engage the ADI (anti-detonation injection) which will allow you to run at full power until you run out of ADI fluid. The switch is on the panel (look behind the stick at the bottom of the panel) and there is an ADI quantity gauge near the top of the panel.Flying the Reno Air Racing Tutorial explains the need to use ADI.Good luck.
  13. Obviously I have used both sims, and I obviously am biased in what I like best. I do think there are some very cool features in XP that I wished I had available to me in the world of FS. With further development we would have had those and more as well.I do think that XP needs to be careful with their support for conversion tools where content made for FS can work in XP. I think that is asking for a lawsuit. Any content is the intellectual property of whomever created it. Converting it to use in another product seems a direct violation of the ownership of the IP unless it was expressly allowed by the creator and owner of the IP. I can imagine add-on developers getting seriously ###### if their FS content (aircraft, scenery, etc) started showing up as XP add-ons without approval or any revenue going to them. I know I would be pretty upset...
  14. It sounds like you need to buy FSX Acceleration as many of your requests are already accounted for there. It is very expensive to build high-detail course locations to the standards we did in Acceleration, so it would be virtually impossible for us to do an entire season that way. But as Kevin mentioned, it's quite easy to build the logic for new courses using the mission system components added for Acceleration. In all honestly we have found that the skill level required to fly the Red Bull courses (even the easier courses) is higher than most Flight Simulator users can handle (especially if they have any PC performance issues). As a result there doesn't seem to be very much interest in Red Bull Air Racing or air racing in general, so it isn't very profitable for us to build out new courses anytime soon. Thanks for your enthusiasm for the subject!
  15. In the first few years of Red Bull racing, a touch and go in a small area of chalk was usually part of the course. This was the case when I designed the mission for FSX.As far as I know they stopped including this "maneuver" when the pilots started complaining about it.
  16. There is no penalty for flying too low (unless you crash of course). You are hitting your own flour bombs. The only solution is to fly level when dropping them or turn off collisions. As for the bombs passing through the targets without hitting them, this is very possible when frame rates are low as the flour bomb may pass through the hit detection area between frames. That is the only reason I can think of unless you have found a new bug...
  17. >Are we distinguishing airports from airfields here ?Absolutely, airfields are included and welcome.
  18. Hello all,I'm looking for some feedback on airports missing from FSX. Check my blog if you would like to make suggestions. Thanks
  19. Thanks for the compliments Mike, we really do appreaciate it!I just posted a bit on my blog about the new courses and some of the older courses as well. And don't worry, I won't lose my sense of humor anytime soon... :)
  20. The Hawaiian Hoop course was my attempt at designing a truly "gamey" race. I was inspired by all of the talk in the community fearing that including races in FSX Acceleration would just turn it into a game. Some thought (and maybe still do think) that all racing is too gamey.I think that those that have flown the races in FSX Acceleration have found that they are quite realistic, especially if they have experienced real aircraft racing at all. So if anyone whats to see a race that is gamey (with power-ups and all), then try out the Hawaiian course. That is if you are up for the challenge. The Secret Island course is a bit gamey as well simply because it takes place in a fictional setting. It's fun though... and an interesting way to check out the island.
  21. Yes it is in Deluxe only. It's also an "undocumented feature." Pretty cool though.
  22. What would make Brandon and I happiest is if you and other users would try the multi-player races either alone by yourself or with other people and let us know what you think of the different courses. We have gotten very little feedback regarding many of the courses, primarily be cause we assume they are too difficult for most users to complete.BTW, we have made three more courses available on FSinsider...http://www.fsinsider.com/downloads/Pages/B...ngMissions.aspxDownload the pdf for a good description of them. I will also be bloging about the tomorrow.
