Yeah, Google and Microsoft are spying on you and selling your data! Ditch Edge and download Mozilla Firefox. Firefox has default privacy protections.

Serious? Are you living under a rock?

Everything you do online is data mined! I remember looking at an obscure product in a Google search,  and then checking my Microsoft email a couple minutes later and I had AD banner for the same product.

Here are some examples of a DuckDuckGo Search:

"SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - A newly discovered spyware effort attacked users through 32 million downloads of extensions to Google’s market-leading Chrome web browser, researchers at Awake Security told Reuters, highlighting the tech industry’s failure to protect browsers as they are used more for email, payroll and other sensitive functions."

"The Washington Post - You open your browser to look at the Web. Do you know who is looking back at you?

Over a recent week of Web surfing, I peered under the hood of Google Chrome and found it brought along a few thousand friends. Shopping, news and even government sites quietly tagged my browser to let ad and data companies ride shotgun while I clicked around the Web."

"The Verge - Microsoft has faced continued concerns around its collection of data with Windows 10. France previously ordered Microsoft to stop tracking Windows 10 users, the EU has voiced its concerns, and the EFF has blasted Microsoft over its data collection. While the software giant revealed what data Windows 10 really collects last year, it’s going one step further with the next update to the operating system."

"If windows 7 isn't supported then why did my Work machine automatically install Microsoft EDGE last night :|"

My PC just force shutdown to install Microsoft edge. Losing at least an hour of drawing. Thank you @Microsoft
No one is gonna use you're word not allowed excuse for a browser, no matter how much you force it.

Windows apparently did an update in the middle of the night and now my f-ing document with the notes for Episode 56 are all gone!
It's all good though, I got Microsoft Edge out of the deal so you know, that's good and something I asked for -_-
We'll have it up soon xo

Same here with Linux Ubuntu. I have bough a Nvidia Jetson Nano that uses Ubuntu and I wasnt expecting this:

Collection and use of data: When you enter a search term into the dash Ubuntu will search your Ubuntu computer and will record the search terms locally."

(No information where to find those)

If you have opted in (see the “Online Search” section below), we will also send your keystrokes ... selected third parties so that we may complement your search results with online search results from such third parties including: Facebook, Twitter, BBC and Amazon. Canonical and these selected third parties will collect your search terms...

  1. the collection and use of your search terms and IP address in this way; and
  2. the storage of your search terms and IP address by Canonical and such selected third parties (if applicable).

The companies behind it have billions to trillions of money. They do not only collect the data to improve search suggestions, their fund is more and more based on collecting data. I was expecting the Nano Linux to be a clear OS, sure updates and server maintanance costs money, but I dont need any updates because I dont have any personal information on such device, I paid money for the Jetson Nano to get a clear OS, but what you get is an integrated OS with data collections, craving and yawling dogs waiting for personal data to be feed.

What s more in Ubuntu?

Baked in Online Accounts in Settings Menu that cant be deleted. Microsoft, Facebook, Foursquare. That is like prostitution on a PC.

Oh yes and concerning Firefox, rumors say Google pays 450 Million Dollar every year for being the primary search engine. Cannot believe that. The best experience I had was to use WinINet on Visual C++ and send a very basic HTTP request, what you get back is an HTML file, no scripts that will access your computer (by automatically removing Scripts in HTML code. And I can recommend the UMatrix extension that is supported by many browsers.

Sorry for Off Topic and I hope it is Okay in this case.
