Sightseeing - Teheran

Now this was an eye-opener. This is exactly what I'd been hoping for with MSFS. Places like this were almost universally ignored previously, default (poor) sim landscape and just the very occasional mediocre airport. I've no idea of the accuracy of the representation, but to me this is stunning! I really feel like I have the chance to see all sorts of interesting places around the world now and see them with credibility. Big thanks to MS / Asobo. Oh, and the lighting! Just incredible.

First few were a really early start

Not a fan of VR, but I'm seriously considering a huge TV for my system. This is pretty engrossing on my 40" monitor but I have to wonder how it would look on a 56" or 60" screen

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

Great shots Andy.  Our mutual friend 'Renault' bought a wireless Xbox for his and is raving about it especially the camera usage.

I actually was in Tehran a few years ago for a few days (back then I worked at a university in Germany, and we had a program for inviting Iranian students for a few months to Germany, so I had to go there once to make interviews with candidates). It was a really interesting experience.

And indeed I checked the scenery in MFS for that city, and was positively surprised. Much better than in previous simulators. I could actually identify parts of the city in which we had been, and also the mountains where we were hiking. But it's of course still generic, without any particular landmarks.

Thanks OnD. I've got one of those sitting around from a failed experiment with some other game so I plan to try that as well. Trouble is - too busy exploring!

This level will do for me Mario. I've been well impressed with all the places I've checked out so far. Sure, there are oddities and imperfections, but it's still so far above any of the other sims as far as I'm concerned.
