nVidia drivers--which one is stable?

Recommended Posts

Guest Vilk

i have recently returned to the nvidia world after a few years with ati. 7600gs oc 512 with 91.47. i think the card is ok. googling around indicates that some nvidia driver releases cause what i began to observe--random resets or freezes in graphic-intensive situations (why, even their installer is flaky beyond belief)i would be grateful for your opinions and experiences: which driver is the "rock-solid" one?

Been using 91.47, dated 11/08/2006, for well over a month now without any problems. I understand there's another 91.47 version out with a later date but I'm not sure how that works without it having a different version number. Paul Croft15 miles north of EGKK

I'm using this one : nvodngov19147-Guru3D.com It's been working fine for me. The biggest thing with the drivers is going thru the correct steps to remove and replace. The drivers will most likley be machine specific in many cases so it does take some experimentation. Craig

>I think nVidia has got to get their act together. Huh? The drivers referred to as being from Guru3d are (probably deliberately) leaked. Nothing to do with Nvidia having to get their act together. Experienced users can choose whether to download them and therefore take part in a mass beta test before drivers are released to the masses, the vast majority of which have little PC knowledge and for who a driver installation going wrong could mean no end of problems.

Paul, if you dont think Nvida has to get their act together reffering to their drivers you must be a lucky person who has never had shimmer in fs9..ATI has its issues too but Nvid hasnt done anything since the release of the 6/7 series to reduce that.
