August 29, 20205 yr God I hate the design tools with a vengeance. Can you be any less intuitive? You as the user have to tell the inspector to save the files in the right folders so that they compile correctly and then show up in the sim afterwards? How about programming a tool that does that on its own? I did it right only once, and now I have wasted two hours trying to figure out what I did different to my latest approaches of adding a scenery of custom POI's to my city. They show up in the editor, I copied over the package as before, but nothing shows up in the sim this time. Edited August 29, 20205 yr by Farlis
August 29, 20205 yr Farlis are you in the SDK discord channel ? A few people in there know their way around and a good many pins / videos. Guess a few have broken off into their own discords but go hang out. https://discord.gg/WVsypM i7-8600k @ 3.70 GHz 16.0 GB Ram OS Win 10-64 bit Geforce GTX 1070

I can tell from reading your post that you already know more about the SDK than everyone on that channel. You're better off watching the various MSFS threads on www.fsdeveloper.com: https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/forums/msfs2020.155/ I'd pose your question there. They may not know the answer, but eventually, someone there will figure it out. BTW, you're not alone in your frustration with the SDK UI. I have the same problem, but it's mostly because everything isn't particularly intuitive, like let's say for example, Airport Design Editor. After a while, I got used to it. It also helps to discover the various keyboard shortcuts. All in all, given that the SDK is an early beta, it's pretty helpful for understanding the inner workings of MSFS.
August 30, 20205 yr Author I figured it out. But the amount of possible errors one can make... one slight typo in an xml and all goes to bust. They really need to turn their UI into a foolproof system, that handles all the sensitive stuff on its own. And I really hope the Blender export tool gets update sometime, so that you don't have to manually edit the GUID into the proper XML format.
