August 29, 20205 yr So, I recently installed FS2020. It's running great so far, but two things really annoy me. 1. Whenever I pause a flight, several flight instruments are still active. So that means that I risk a huge nose-up or nose-dive when I start the game again if I am not 100 % level prior to hitting the pause key. I also noticed that the in-game clock keeps on ticking when I pause. When I click 'pause', however, it is precisely because I want to game to come to a pause. Not to just freeze my airplane mid-air while everything else runs. 2. Somtimes I will not have the time to finish a flight in one go (especially long-hauls). So the obvious solution then, as I do with any other game, is to merely save the game and load it again when I am ready to keep playing. However, I noticed that with FS2020 the settings on the instrument panel will change dramatically when I load a saved game. Often resulting in an immediate nose-dive, inversion, or something else which leads to a crash. Furthermore, the navigation plan I entered when planning my flight (high-altitude airways) prior to saving will either be completely gone, or have changed (a flight from EKCH to KIAD which originally was supposed to be around 3500 NM appeared with a new flightplan covering a distance of more than 5000 NM). Seriosuly, is it that hard for the developers to just make sure that when you load a saved game, it appears exactly as it was when you saved it? I know that there are many other issues as well related to flight dynamics, etc. that are buggy in this game, but the two issues above just really irk me. I mean, this is not even very technical stuff. Just let me be able to pause and load/save a game the same way you do in any other game! Does anyone know how to either avoid these issues, or if the development team is aware of these issues and are actively working on fixing them? Any input is greatly appreciated :)
August 29, 20205 yr save is bugged, need to wait for patches, i do only short flights for now. or you can land , write down airport code, and carry on next time, this is what i am doing now.
August 29, 20205 yr Author Thanks for your reply! I will just hope that these issues will be fixed in a future patch then :).
August 30, 20205 yr Do you use the pause key? i.e. Active Pause? That causes problems and is good only for a brief stop to look round. If you've not done it already, try binding keys to activate and release a 'normal' pause (you need two keys to start and stop a pause). I find this stops the nose dive or stall, although there are still problems with saves in that the flight plan and some AP settings are lost when loading a saved flight.
August 30, 20205 yr The save feature is not complete as has been said. I suggest that you report it to Zendesk including as much detail as possible.
August 31, 20205 yr Just noticed the local time on my avionics doesn't pause when I pause the game to send my kids to bed..... There goes my timing for my flight plan... One thing I did now notice though.... The stopwatch in the Navlog DOES pause when i go to the pause menu. Guess that's what ill be using always for now on.
December 22, 20205 yr The Pause Situation Feature in FS 2020 is meaningless. It is for those needing to stop in order to look for something. If you really want to pause, hit the escape key of your keybaord. this way it stops completely! save your flight to any file... I use temp-flight.flt quit the sim, start the sim, load the flight. Be prepared to reset everything in your cockpit. Garmin GPS 2000 settings still get lost with every restart (like map zoom, brg dme csi wind, weather, atc etc., navs) I am not sure how it behaves if you have set the weather to LIVE... weather won't be the same the next time you load your flight.
January 2, 20215 yr Dear captains and first officers...... I admire you all........ FS2020 has been released with an incredible amount of missing items, not working buttons and switches and no operations manual for the download version - by the way, the booklets of the 10-DVD-box (which, on DVD number 5, had CRC-errors; I had to return the whole, unable to download it....) is not for future captains, it is conceived for tourists; you do not miss anything if you don't have it...... - as I said before: I admire you, ladies and gentlemen - many of us pilots in real life (46yrs on my side) - I admire your patience with a product, announced with such promises, thrown on the market in state of deficiency. I simply feel betrayed. Although the graphic side is brilliant, the mentality of those who decided to release a product, long before its completion, is simply not acceptable. Are we not all betrayed? A SIC 'having control' "flying" at illegal altitude or through buildings and trees, RPM continously in the arc, forgetting to take off at Vr, followed by a long trip through the surrounding woods and villages....... he never makes use of ICAO-phraseology when it comes to RWY numbers or ALT-reports. This holds true for ATC aswell. Not a good example for those who want a realistic approach to 'voice'. - Remember P3D, the aircraft at the holding position: PIC.....'ready for T/O'...... which is one fo the worst voice mistakes when you pilot. We all remember Teneriffa 1977, 583 victims. 'ready for T/O is a no go since Teneriffa............ No quick saving/loading of panel states/flights. No simple access to the different pages. No easily accessible real freezing of the flight. Dozens of quick references that simply repeat the title and do not give any explanation......G1000 or similar: The course pointer refuses to center, the heading bug sometimes does. The manual brake cannot be released, sometimes it can.....>>> sometimes you can take off, sometimes you can't. Rotating switches , (alt/hdg etc ) require an disproportional amount of time to reach the desired value. Our dear friend on the RH side is unable to land when the finalis slightly (!) too high: >>> non-stop GA..... Or, he is not in the mood and 'lands' beyond the RWY with the speed in the red range. Occasionally, the whole SIM quits in the middle of the flight after +/-40 minutes. Why? My PC is considered high-end, every component, SW, HW, drivers, has the latest updates and is used exclisively for simming...... no add-ons (yet), no other SW. Maintained by a professional engineer. Although I admit to be at the very beginning of the exploration of FS 2020, today there are many reasons for substantial doupts. I apologize for the language barrier and wish you all good health - and, as J. and M. King said.....'Stay out of the trees'....... BMW of Switzerland

January 2, 20215 yr I find the MSFS pause key (P) an anomaly, I don't know why it was ever implemented, seems to cause lots of problems. I have now re-configured the P key to Pause on, and alt-P to Pause off Before I save a flight I now always put it into Pause on before saving, and on restarting have to strike Pause off to to re-activate it, then all seems fine, as far as I can see, my settings are saved (mainly autopilot). Hope this helps. Nigel Vancouver
