A320 NEO Elevator Trim Sensitivity

Featured Replies

Hi All

I find that elevator trim adjustments via the assigned button on my TM HOTAS stick have very little effect in the A320. Is that usual? It works more as expected in the default props.

Thanks

I'm no A320 pilot and I don't know the exact ins and outs, but I remember I read somewhere the A320 has auto trim. That might explain it? I don't know if this auto trim can be switches off.

A320 has FBW system, by which automatically sustain attitude when there is not any input from stick. Therefore no need to manual trim. It can be deactivated somewhere in the overhead panel, but it is not really need to do so under normal situation.

In normal flight mode, all airbuses only use trim for take off after referencing the load sheet and establishing the weight distribution. Once airborne they all have auto-trim whether you are flying manually or under auotpilot.. For example if you wish to descend at 1000 feet per minute, gently push the stick forward then release. The auto trim will hold the aircraft at the desired attitude.
