K2 is the tallest mountain in Pakistan and the second tallest in the world. MSFS did not do it justice like many other mountains that have sharp features. Hopefully it can be fixed as part of the main scenery update at some point. 

 

Most mountains are just hills in this program. Just look at the default Matterhorn! (Thank you to the person that did it justice).

 

I can’t understand how a upwards of 5 year old freeware mesh is able to provide better data all over the world for p3d and FSX for free and the “next gen” one from MSFT Doesn’t... ah but who am I kidding, the reason we have a freeware mesh at all for the other sims is because their official meshes were also not up to par 🙂

@UAL4life It might be related to what MS can use legally more than anything else. Let's hope they improve this. Mountains are a big part of the world scenery and the second highest mountain in the world needs better visualization. So do all of the other iconic ones. It's certainly technically possible. 

I'm looking forward to the world updates. Africa needs some attention too. Would love an Africa and worldwide mountain update.

There is a general issue with mountains in MSFS, see this thread on the official forum.

Hopefully they will use some of the billion $$$ they are making to access better mesh data and implement it in the sim. It seems that the current polygonal complexity would already allow a much better representation of mountain peaks, we will see.

I would imagine that as Asobo concentrate on each area, as they have already stated, to bring it up to perfection, the mountains will be on the list. I can't believe that none of you read or saw what Asobo intends as we go forward? Or is it that you just don't believe what they say?
