September 21, 20205 yr How does P2A determine active runways? I have it set to NOAA weather, and I'm using live weather in MSFS 2020 and Sim Brief. Flying from KJFK to EGLL, P2A set the active runway at 31L, even though Sim Brief was showing 4L with winds around 030 at 8kts. Also, I tried to change the runway in the flight plan- I clicked on KJFK, clicked SIDs, changed to 4L, and clicked set runway and load. But while it changed the departure runway to 4L, when I filed the flight plan, it changed it back to 31L. Finally, when I imported the flight plan from Sim Brief and tried to change the cruise altitude and validate and file, I kept getting an error message that it couldn't calculate the TOD. Let me know if I'm setting things up incorrectly 🙂
September 21, 20205 yr Commercial Member When winds are very light or calm, there is the highest probability of getting different runway assignments. This is when you rightly need to set the runway yourself. First, on the FltPlan tab of Config, check the option "Force Pilot Runway Selection". With this option checked, setting the SID for the desired runway will force use of that runway and SID. If flying without a SID, you can check the Force Dep Rwy box on the SID selection window and just select the desired runway without a SID. Then press the Select Rwy button. You can do the same for the Arrival runway in the STAR or Approach selection window. Dave
